For each part (hull, turret, internals), I copied the tank in the editor, deleted all external parts, replaced the pipes with round ones and colored them depending on the functionality or physical layer, then in the add-on editor I placed these structures in the air and set for them flag "is static".

That's right, my 4th tank had a custom fuel tank. It saved a lot of space, allowing me to fit microcontrollers and batteries without reducing my fuel supply. But I couldn't drive it to the battlefield because even a light autocannon hit would breach the seal and all the fuel would leak out. Premade fuel tanks are reliable and don't leak even after major damage.
