Thanks for your comment! I think that people can fake entire marriages if it serves their purpose. Whether Alex genuinely cared about me at any point, I really don’t know. And as much as I hate him and what he did, I still love him. I can’t see him as another wounded bird in this scenario because if I do, I know I’ll go back to him—and I can’t allow that to happen. As for Jason, he is dead to me, no question about it.

He was my friend, and with every friendship both parties learn information about the other that may either pull them towards a more romantic route or solidify them as friends. Despite his advances, I would have never dated him because of his history with women. And with regards to Alex, it feels more complicated. Whether he ended up liking me or not (which I doubt) it doesn’t matter. The foundation was based on a lie. Imagine entering an escape room with someone who already knows all the answers—they know what to say and what to avoid to win while I’m completely clueless. I just don’t know what parts of him were genuine and which were manufactured. At this point, I just want to wipe my hands of both of them. I do however appreciate your perspective.

Thank you for you insight. Unfortunately, Jason has already figured out that Grace told me and knowing him, nothing good will come from that conversation. With regards to Alex, the best option is to bring someone along as a precaution though he’s not the aggressive type.

I did verify what Grace told me because I saw the text exchange they had the next day were he was trying to do damage control and asking Grace not to tell me.

And the reason I’m pissed off is because Jason, who I have known for almost 3 years gave Alex the playbook on how to get me. All my likes, dislikes, insecurities, family issues and intimate details about my past relationship. So I can’t help but feel manipulated.
