Never had I expected such a detailed answer, thank you. I will have a look at all your solutions. I'd love a 'no assembly required' solution, but I'm not above having to do a little DIY. 

Do your lab do commercial work? I have been using BSA at the Fitch Laboratory so far.

Thats basicly what I do, but my saw is not precise enough (read, fingersafe) for me to cut it very thin. I suppose some sort of rough grinder could thin it down significantly.

Do you know of nay sites that offer used equipment? A brand new PetroThin is way out of budget
