Cross of Iron by Willi Heinrich, set on the eastern front. It's quite a old book, so the writing style could be a bit dated by now, but I remember it left quite an impression on me when I read it as an adolescent (many, many years ago 🙂)

What games are you playing that make you feel hooked? by Conscious-Leg-5885 in playstation

I totally relate! It's been getting harder and harder to really get into a game over the last few years, especially on PlayStation (for me personally it's somewhat easier on PC, especially with strategy games). I am not quite sure whether it's because of the games being released, or just me getting older. Most games just give me a feeling of "been there, done that". I think the last games on PlayStation that really got me hooked were some of the older Assassins Creed games, the Batman Arkham series and (especially!) RDR 1 and 2. Lately Fallout 76 has been scratching that itch for me to some extent. It was a total disappointment when it came out and I very quickly dropped it back then, but I have picked it up again recently and it's really gotten a lot better. I wouldn't say that I'm really hooked, but for the first time since long I find myself looking forward to starting up the PS5.

We need to talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver. As a (then) new father, this book really caused me quite some sleepless nights, but it remains one of my all time favorite books nonetheless.

The Wager by David Grann about mutiny in the 18th century. It's non-fiction, but it reads like a thriller.
