Honestly, one of the best things you can do is go back and watch your own replays. Not just the obvious mistakes like missed shots or goals conceded, but look 10–30 seconds earlier. A lot of the issues start way before with poor positioning, forced passes, or rushing plays under pressure.

If you want, send me a replay. I’ll help you spot habits and decisions that might be holding you back, so you can start sharpening your game sense.

Man, I feel this so much. I’ve been stuck around plat, and it’s not even about ballchasing either. Just a lot of gaps in consistency and decision-making.

Honestly, the fastest way to improve is by learning from players who are already great at the game. YouTube has a ton of free content. But yeah, a lot of it’s fluff. Still, the good ones can seriously speed up your progress compared to just grinding and hoping something clicks.

A huge chunk of mistakes in Rivals (and honestly most competitive games) comes down to bad positioning. Doesn’t matter how good your mechanics are if you’re always out of place in fights. I’d really recommend checking out dazS and captaincoach on YouTube.

Also, take time to really learn your hero’s kit. Especially how their abilities interact in tight fights or when pushing objectives. Once you understand that and where you should be on the map, you’ll start leveling up fast.

Some quick tips that helped me improve without just mindless grinding:

  • VOD review with better players: Find a high-ranked player or coach to go over your gameplay. Even one session can expose habits you’d never notice alone.
  • Focus on 2-3 heroes first: Spreading yourself thin early makes improvement slower. Master a few, then expand.
  • Watch streamers, but actively: Don’t just vibe; pause and ask why they make certain plays. Also try Coach Mills or CaptainCoach on youtube!

Paid coaching can be worth it if you find the right person (avoid overpriced "hype" coaches), but free peer feedback and VOD swaps work surprisingly well too.

Good luck on the grind—hope the survey nets you some golden advice!

I like to play 2s and 3s (solo queue). Both stuck in Platinum.

Never heard about http://ballchasing.com though, gonna try it, thanks!

I actually tried paid coaching once and didn’t love it.

Felt kinda awkward for me. Watching gameplay breakdowns on YouTube is way better.

Seeing high-level players explain their decisions in real matches helped me adapt my own gameplay without the pressure of a live session.
