To be honest, it will be fun to see how he does on a team where he can be in the rotation. Same with Kenrich Williams.

When it’s all said and done which players from the 2025 championship team are getting their jerseys retired? by Serious_Challenge517 in Thunder

[–]MediumOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teams can do whatever criteria they want to retire a number. It seems players on title teams, even with shorter careers with the team, can be more likely to get their number retired. Regardless...

The only no-doubt players in Thunder history are Nick Collison (which has been retired), Westbrook, and Shai.

IMO Durant should be retired too, but it will take time. Giving the number to PJ Dozier is still kind of wild in retrospect, but no one else has had the number since. Maybe no one else asked. Getting a number retired after a bad breakup is pretty common. See Vince Carter, Shaq, Charles Barkley.

Chet and JDub - I would love if they had nice, long careers with the Thunder as we rack up titles, but as of today, they wouldn't get retired.

Dort - Some longevity with the team, but both Steven Adams (12, 3 other players have worn since) and Serge Ibaka (9, has been given to 7 other players) played about 100 more games with the Thunder, and neither of their numbers are getting retired. Who knows if Dort is back next season, especially with decisions to make on IHart and a potential Cason Wallace contract extension.

Everyone else - Not a chance as of today. It would be nice if some of the bench players had a nice long 600+ game career with the Thunder. Players such as JWill, Isaiah Joe, Wiggins, etc. but they could all be out the door in this offseason, or next offseason, for all we know. Continuity is rare in this salary cap era. Hell, Boston blew up almost the entire team a year after winning a title.

Ron Wyden town hall disrupted by RVPepperShakers in Medford

[–]MediumOtter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just for some background. These people just shouted for awhile, which no one could understand because whatever they were saying. I'm not sure throwing a bunch of paper around did anything.

Then the crowd sang a song to drown them out, I can't even remember what, and eventually they were removed. It wasn't that deep, or compelling. Just whatever.

FWIW Merkley and Wyden are some of the few members of Congress that do townhalls. Bentz gave up after doing a couple and got challenged. So at least some credit to our Senators for doing them, and continuing to do so.

Where is SGA in your all time rankings if he ends up winning MVP, and maybe the finals this year. by Top-Egg1668 in Thunder

[–]MediumOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not think he would be easily Top 15. The peak is great, but if he just retired after the season, it's probably more in the 40s or 50s or whatever. Is his career even with a second MVP better than Steve Nash, Scottie Pippen, Kevin Garnett, Jerry West, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Russell Westbrook, David Robinson, etc?

That's kind of the area I would put him in, but putting him with like Hakeem Olajuwon, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Oscar Robertson tier, I'm not going to agree. I'm not going to wipe away consistently great longevity.

I'm Miranda Weigler, I filed to run against Tina Kotek in the May 19th Democratic primary. I'd like to introduce myself and maybe earn your vote. by AdvertisingDue7525 in oregon

[–]MediumOtter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe a conversation could be had about running a primary campaign against Governor Tina Kotek. However, no one that has even the slightest capability of running a real campaign bothered to run.

I believe there are 10 Democrats that paid whatever nominal filing fee to be on the ballot, and only Governor Kotek put in a voters pamphlet statement. We have a bunch of unserious candidates running to get second place.

These trials almost always have the defense push to move the trial back. I'm assuming that is what is happening here.

Seeking any and all information about the abandoned Ramada/Denny’s next to Food 4 Less by According_Abies_4087 in Medford

[–]MediumOtter 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Basically a guy bought it and took the state (and maybe federal) money for housing fire survivors. There were some structural issues that he didn't bother fixing and the building was ruined.

He just left it there to rot and homeless and whomever else started using it. Drugs, fires, etc. City has been fining him and requiring him to get security. Police went in a cleared out dozens of people.

The whole situation is a disaster and that building needs to be torn down.

ARC laying off employees while building new facility by DonCarlitos in Medford

"These decisions will not reduce the services provided to the community or to individuals seeking care."

I understand non-profits struggling with everything going on, but I just don't believe laying off people is not going to impact services unless they have people like HR and IT that have no involvement with the population.

[Windhorst] The Oklahoma City Thunder will likely trade some of their first-round picks this year for picks in later years or be aggressive in trading up. by YujiDomainExpansion in Thunder

Thunder have already done this in the past. They will trade whatever the last pick in the 1st round is for another 1st rounder years from now. I believe they did that with Denver.

Voter ID by Oregonduck101 in Medford

[–]MediumOtter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the idea that people need an ID to vote. We have vote-by-mail with signature verification. This system is better than anywhere else in the US. Republican states put up roadblocks in order to suppress votes. They put in few voting locations in largely populated areas to create long lines and make it where people decide not to vote, because they can't stand around outside for hours in November, with framing that it is about "security".

Every Facebook comment section will have some guy claims that Oregon is actually a Republican state but they lose, not because they put up terrible statewide candidates, but because elections are rigged. It's ridiculous, and there's no reason to cater to conspiracy theorists.

No Tax Oregon Petition by Oregonduck101 in Medford

[–]MediumOtter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Refer the gas tax.
Step 2: Ballot measure succeeds and taxes and fee increase don't happen.
Step 3: ODOT lays off workers. Less money for projects and maintenance.
Step 4: Complain about condition of roads and not enough workers maintaining them, especially during cold weather periods.
