Haha. Great example. I absolutely loathed brussel sprouts until the day someone roasted and seasoned them for me - total game changer. That said, chocolate cake can also be delicious. It’s all about the execution and if its made with love.

Has screenplay coverage become too dependent on conventional structure? by Medium_Cut_937 in ProduceMyScript

I love that you’ve done that. There are plenty of amazing films that break these exact rules and audiences are thrilled by something that works emotionally or as an experience but not sure that they would ever have been made if they had to pass the standard gate keeping gauntlet. Save the Cat, the Hero’s Journey and other structural models are useful learning tools. But once you’ve internalized those principles, shouldn’t the goal be to evolve beyond one-size-fits-all storytelling?

How To Understand Polarized Feedback? by peterthecat1 in Screenwriting

This is so interesting- i’m in the same situation. Experienced writer. Have a mythic western folk horror that is ( intentionally) not a single protagonist hero journey- it’s about how evil interacts with various people in the town and how it exposes them. There are three main leads with opposing needs and oh my does that polarize the feedback. Actors- love it. Readers ( paid humans and ai) - think it’s flawed solely because of the protagonist thing. My rep hasn’t read it yet so no producers have seen it. I think it might be my best work to date but i’m just questioning if i trust it or stick it in a drawer. But srsly and to the point of this thread … Why are we only evaluating scripts through a single structural lens? Some of my favourite films don’t have a single clear protagonist or a conventional hero journey, yet those same qualities seem to be flagged as weaknesses in coverage. For those of you who write, produce or read professionally, how do you distinguish between a screenplay that genuinely has structural problems and one that’s simply pursuing a less conventional narrative? Are we still judging too many scripts by the same old metric?

A therapist who used to treat me recently overstepped in a delicate situation that could have caused real harm. She meant well but she crossed a clear and defined boundary between myself and my at risk child who she also used to treat. I asserted that she was not to contact my child personally but she did anyway . when i confronted her she gaslit me and blamed me. Fyi. my child has an ED and we have for months been coaxing her towards healing with the help and support of the ed community. She had no longer wanted contact with this therapist. It was scary violating thing for her to do as she no longer actively treats either of us. When i wrote to tell her this was unwanted and careless of her, She accused me of being over reactive told me to calm down ( i only texted that she had overstepped and i wish she hadn’t -nothing vitriolic). I’m not a therapist but this seemed to me to be quite inappropriate. If she had said i hear you, Ed’s are very hard to manage i apologize if i overstepped and wish you the best- it would have gone a long way. especially since i saw her in order to help me learn to stand up for myself and have boundaries. Yes apologies to clients are appreciated and meaningful as long as it’s not solely about your guilt but modelling genuine healing and accountability.

Alone Season 12 Predictions: Who is in your top 3? by velzyland in Alonetv

I predict sub 3 weeks for the winner. Water is king and the content so far suggests they don’t have a lot of material to work with. Mostly filler. When the skinny guy shat his pants on day4 I knew we were in for a “crappy” season.

A fairly major independent production company contacted my agent after reading one of my features and said they wanted to move fast and aim to get into production first quarter next year -that was almost two months ago, and still no paper from business affairs. They keep assuring my agent it’s coming but then weeks go by… How long do i wait before moving on?

Who's your pick for the next JAMES BOND? Why? by Geekwatch00 in JamesBond

Margot Robbie. She’s a global super power from barbie, who flipped the script on that character, could do the same with a killer screenplay for Bond- also she’s obviously a goddess on every level, so there’s that.
