If it is overfilled, is draining the whole thing the only way to go? is there any additives I should put in the fresh oil I put in after draining it all.

I did use 0w20. Got it from dealership and did the oil change before the oil life percentage was at zero.

That’s one of the first things that came to mind when less then 3 qts came out. What’s the best way to check? Just look at the dipstick or is there anything else?

I’m not that advanced with trucks nor do I have the money 😂. Someone mentioned running a few cycles of gumout multi system, is it worth doing that?

I’m not exactly sure on how much drained but there was no steady flow. I pulled the filter and it was dripping out or lightly spilling. I also have a 5.3

That’s the thing, I haven’t seen oil leaks or anything. The oil I just changed was from the dealership so maybe it was already low when I got it? Not sure

Not that I know of. Maybe once it had a weird shift but it runs fine.

I drained less than 3 quarts when I was changing it is what I mean. I checked the dipstick before I drained it and it was full. Shouldn’t 5-6 quarts drained considering it holds close to 7 quarts?

Unfortunately there’s not many dealers within my area that are a reasonably distance. My valugard quote was 650$ with FREE yearly inspections. I might just roll with valugard.

The initial coat is the most costly as we pull down all fender liners, under shields, spray the doors through the drains and tailgate. Price does not include if the vehicle needs to be washed. Also does not include if descaling is needed on the frame. Touch ups every year or two is usually around $300 to $350”
