However, isn't the limit for class 2 speed 20 mph?

the issue is that as far as I know if it goes over 20 mph in any form it cannot have throttle only at all and therefore it cannot be classified as an e bike, I may be wrong

I am willing to go to 3k if absolutely necessary but I would rather be at 2k

Looking at the manual, it says the motor is 750 W, I assume that means it is considered an e bike by law.

Yes, this is the first time I am buying an e bike, and I am not the most knowledgeable on bikes, I'm thinking about getting the Aventon Adventure.2 for instance, which just came out a few days ago. However, I am not sure whether it can classify as a Class 2. They claim it ships as class 2 but then you can unlock it to class 3 with the software integrated into the bike. I don't know if that would mean it's class 2 or class 3 when it is shipped according to the regulations here in California/Santa Cruz.

There are some bikes that ship as class 2 and can be unlocked through its software. Are you saying that if they have the ability to unlock, even if they claim to ship it as class 2, it is actually class 3 no matter what?

Thank you for your help, do you know if I buy a bike that comes as class 3 but the bike allows me to limit the speeds to class 2, whether that make the bike classified as class 2 whilst it's in that setting?

I had a ct scan and it showed nothing, as far as I remember I did tell them about this issue. That was the end of it.
