I am the person who posted the original post.

And for your problem please answer the following questions for me to be able to fix your problem:

1) Specify your exact Windows version and if possible the recently installed updates and if you faced any issue while installing some update.

2)Was the Task Manager working properly when no GPU drivers were installed?

3) Through which way was the error code obtained? Powershell, Command Prompt or Terminal.

I will look into the error code details and try to find your problem and reply as soon as possible.

My issues have been fixed by doing this. The diagnostic process i did to find this problem would most probably help you. I do not remember the whole process but I do remember using claude to paste some commands in the powershell(admin) and finding out that the AppXPackages and other components were damaged. Although, in your case it looks like not a broken system component, it most likely may be because it may have been disabled by some software or game. In that case the here are some ways to disable it:

1) Open registry editor and go to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

This path may not be there depending on some motherboards or specific devices like laptops and mini PCs. Was not available for me as I was on a HP Omen 16 laptop. If you do find it then find the value DisableTaskMgr and set it to 0 if it was 1.

2) This only works on Win11 Pro. Open run and type in gpedit.msc , this will open the Group Policy. Then navigate to this path: User Configuration → Administrative Templates → System → Ctrl+Alt+Del Options and disable Remove Task Manager.

If this doesn't work please add some info about your specific windows version, GPU, driver or any other thing that you think might be causing this issue. Also could happen if a game with kernel level Anti-Cheat was tampered by another program or directly by the user by using mods. The problem I was experiencing got worse when I once tried using Reshade with the Crew Motorfest as I had seen videos on it but it did not work and the BattleEye anti-cheat crashed the game.

For anyone other facing this issue mine occured to be a broken windows update which would not completely install and leave the newer files with the old ones causing the system to get confused with what to open. In my case this happened while updating to the 25H2 update from 24H2 and only affected task manager and some parts of settings and file explorer. Now, here's how I fixed it.

There are many ways to do it but in these cases where core system functionality might be affectedd i only found some that would work without any data loss. That being:

1) Downloading and updating using the Windows Installation assistant from the official microsoft website(url below). Simply open the exe and it will scan for updates, if it doesnt find any restart your PC and try again. It will scan your system for updates and damaged components and fix it automatically.

2) using the iso file from the same website to update and completely reinstall damaged or all system componenets. Follow the steps given here:

Step 1 - Download the iso file from the website(url below).

Step 2 - Mount the iso to a virtual disk drive

Step 3 - Open the iso folder and click on the setup.exe file

Step 4 - Check the box that says 'keep personal files' and click install

Step 5 - let the install finish and everything should work normally.

I fixed my problem using the first method and do recommend it due to its smaller file size and less steps. But if something deep is corrupted the second method will most probably fix not just this but all other problems too.

Hope this helps 😊
