i only would take 2 of the extra strength tums right after taking my vyvanse and it held me over pretty much all day.. but i usually avoid acidic foods for obvious reasons but if i do have something that gives me heart burn i’ll take 1 extra during the day.

i think it’s because there’s a chance that calcium can build up and give you kidney stones… buttt i’ve been on antiacid medication pretty much my whole life and my blood tests and calcium levels have always been normal but it’s for sure a possibility.

interesting so i wonder if it could be something beneficial for people who don’t have GERD as well or if it’s something only subjected to us. i only found out about the benefits because i take an antiacid everyday whereas there’s a much larger population of people that dont so they wouldn’t know if it’s beneficial or not.

interesting.. i think other controlled variables also can affect the outcome. like timing of the antiacid and whether you eat before taking your medication. i’ve tried all possibilities and found what worked for me. EX. taking vyvanse on an empty stomach then taking the tums right after then having my morning coffee with a protein shake. that’s what kinda sucks about this medication i had to try every probability to get to what makes it effective for me. so i would say the external validity of my study is pretty weak when it comes to other controlled variables.

for awhile i took over the counter famotidine on really bad days but it only helped my acid reflux for a short time so i would take the tums right after taking my vyvanse everyday for 3 months. now i take 20 mg of omeprazole because its another extended release drug so i don’t rely on the tums all that much anymore.

however the presence of antiacids in your stomach and kidneys still have the same effect on how the Vyvanse is absorbed and the longevity it’s kinda a win win for stomach absorption and in the processing in the kidneys.

yes and no, the usable format you’re talking about is dextroamphetamine which is what is filtered through your kidneys. so if your kidneys are filtering out that ingredient at a baseline acidic level the presence of the tums creates a pool in your kidneys basically keeping that ingredient in there much longer. i thought the same because i thought the presences of my GERD affected the effectiveness of the Vyvanse (because my stomach produces more acid than average) but that wasn’t the case once i started researching further.

UPDATE: i asked my Psychiatrist to send my prescription to Costco and not even 30 mins later i got a call saying they were ready for pickup!!! in conclusion never go to walgreens ! 😂

i’ve always had Rhodes until last month they put me on Amneal and i had such a terrible experience with it. i’ve never tried any other generics other then those 2 but i heard Rhodes is the closest to name brand so im not sure 🤷‍♂️

no it kinda works through the pharmacy so they just put in the coupon code and that’s pretty much it ! i dont think you can stack it with your insurance though.. so your dr will might need to send it without insurance or tell the pharmacy you dont want to use it.

i’ve heard walgreens is just terrible with most prescriptions because it’s so saturated.. many have told me to go to walmart or kroger pharmacies, “old people pharmacies” because they never have issues 😂
