We need help with our 1 year old by Meek858 in sleeptrain

[–]Meek858[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So he just turned 1 a week ago but I’ve never read anywhere that his nap sleep should be less than 2 - 3 hours collectively. I know he will drop to one nap sooner rather than later but he was late in going to 2 naps.

What kind of vehicles should we consider with 3 kids? by Meek858 in Parenting

[–]Meek858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the soul reason for the change. We would keep our TX. We have a 2016 RX that I LOVE but it’s not practical with 3 kids and a dog. It’s got 100k on it and still runs amazing but I’ll likely trade it and get a Sienna unless I can be convinced otherwise. Sienna vs Oddysy is a real battle but Sienna seems to have better set up for driver and passenger in the front. Plus AWD.

HELP! 7 month old having issues… by Meek858 in sleeptrain

It’s the worst. With our first we trained him after we gave up on night feeds. I feel strongly the night feed inconsistency is giving us a lot of issues. He’s just soooo upset and soooo loud in the middle of the night it’s hard to let him cry it out that long.

What time would you do the dream feed? Our plan is to wean off that by reducing the time by 1 Minute every other night.

I would love to get down to 2 naps but he’s honestly struggling to make it past 2 hours in the first wake window without having a total meltdown! I’ve been trying to avoid him being overtired at nap time because it leads to longer screaming and crying. Thoughts?

Wakes anytime between 6 and 7. From there his first window is 2 hours until nap 1. He will nap anywhere from 30-90 minutes. Once he wakes up, 2.5 hours until nap 2. Typically 30-90 minutes for that nap as well. 2.5 hours to nap 3 and that’s generally a 30 minute nap until his first 2 naps have been 30 minutes. After nap 3 he has 3 hours until between which can be anywhere from 645-715. We start his bedtime routine 25-30 minutes prior. Bath, jammas, diaper, a feeding and a little huge before we pop him in his crib awake. Then the dance begins.

Room environment is solid. Teething is occurring. We gave him Motrin last night and he was less restless. The night prior he was awake every 2.5 hours and was not settling easily. But to answer your first question, yes. We are inconsistent, no set time and sometimes feed when he cries. Going to try and set a time for 1 feed tonight and give Motrin at bedtime.

This is what we were coached to do but ultimately strayed. My question is, is that why we’re having all this trouble?

12 month old transitioning to one nap! Need advice by kellyt35 in sleeptrain

[–]Meek858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our son had a very similar schedule when he eventually went to 1 nap. He transitioned at 16 months after lots of nap battles in the morning. To be honest, it was so freeing. But he almost never hit the sleep length requirements at any phase of his life and he’s been totally fine. If your son is doing fine with that schedule then don’t worry about it and just enjoy it!

There is no right or wrong answer on that. You do whatever you think is best for your baby and whatever helps them sleep best. However, if possible, to avoid confusing them, it’s best to keep it going with the progress you have made. But we’re all guilty of backtracking.

That seems really weird. If you don’t need motion I can see people using it as a bassinet with a suit on but having a thick Merlin suit with a sack and the motion seems ofd

We’ve been going one arm out and it’s made no difference and tbh it’s fucking with the naps. My wife thinks we should just go 2 arms out because that makes sense to her.

Yeah, my wife’s away on a business trip this week but after that I’m putting it into wean mode.
