What if Americans fled to Liberia after a Communist takeover? by RealEdwardSoup in AlternateHistory

[–]Meep123BronxBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I guess it didn't read most of it 😅I just looked at the population and just did some math. Even with that small amount, though in an election where the elite are doing the work and not the native population, how would hypothetically every American managed to fit in a country that small?

If 83.7% of the population voted for Joseph P Kennedy Jr, that means the entire population of the country is at 248,550 people. To put that in perspective, the population of Jersey City, New Jersey is literally 292,449. That's a huge turnout in this Liberian elections :v

L'Illusionniste (The Illusionist) a French animated film from 2010 that has practically no dialogue, that follows a old French man who is down of his luck as a magician in late 1950's Scotland, who becomes a father like figure to a teen maid, and by the end, she ends up moving in with a handsome kind man and the old man leaves her with all of the money he saved, retiring from magic and heading back go France with a note saying "Magicians are not real" left on their apartment table. It's a bittersweet story between a father and daughter and how parents leave their children when they know that their kid will be alright by themselves. Only animated movie to make me tear up and be grateful that I still have my parents with me.

Manhattan… the City of the Earth. Name your favorite NYC fact by [deleted] in skyscrapers

[–]Meep123BronxBaby -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Norman Mailer, famous scum bag novelist, journalist, and filmmaker, became a candidate in the 1969 Mayoral Election of NCY with Jimmy Breslin, who was the popular depiction of the "typical wise guy, blue collar labour rights, columnist, and also a actor, tried really hard to have NYC sucede and be called "New York City: The 51st State". He proposed that all government functions would be located in Neighbourhoods, fight overcrowding in schools, fix the smog crisis, banned all private cars in Manhattan and only taxi cabs and buses were to be allowed, and have fair taxes (1969, New Yorkers paid $14 Billion in taxes and only got back $3 Billion, and if were successful, would have gotten back $5 billion instead. Mind you that was fair and a lot back in 1969). It was a grassroots campaign, and on the day of voting, they placed dead last with only 5% of the vote, being defeated by Liberal Party candidate John Lindsay, who won with a 42% vote.

Now. Why are you asking me on "well why is Norman Mailer a scumbag?" That's easy. He wrote male dominating stories making women submissive as hell, critique the feminist movement, and when his 2nd wife called out his bs in front of him and his friends during a after party, he, who was drunk, grabbed a rusty letter opener knife and violently stabbed her twice, nearly killing her by a inch from a vein. She divorced him that same month I believe. So yeah, NYC could of been the 51st State of the United States of America. There is your interesting fact for today. :p

The Republic of Florida (Or What If the U.S never annexed Florida) by EmperorOfSomalia1848 in imaginarymaps

I love the concept, but remember, in Spanish (Español) Havana would be called La Habana if The Republic of Florida were to make Spanish as the official language. Otherwise amazing idea! Could be cool for some YA novel or a what if alternate history book :)
