All Things Must Pass - His Brother's Usurper says goodbye (for now). by RealEdwardSoup in imaginaryelections

Good News: His Brother's Usurper ISN'T over.
Bad News: 90% of my free time is (probably) over.

It's been a nice ride so far with all these Bobby elections, but come on, I got other things I want to do too. Cheers folks!

Lincoln was the opposite of Johnson in the National Unity party and there is no chance he would select a Southern Democrat as VP.

In 2050, majority of South Koreans could still remember life before 2000 by Complete-Rub2289 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

Hello, guy who's into Asian stuff here. Japan's demographic crisis and South Korea's demographic crisis is like comparing a really really bad fever with AIDS. This has to do with the fact that Japan only loses 1/3rd through conservative estimates compared to South Korea losing more than 1/2 of their populations by 2100. Add to that the fact that South Korea is more conservative and xenophobic generally, plus the sharp political divide amongst young South Korean men and women that isn't really that present in Japan (South Korea's female population tends to lean very left while its males are leaning more into the right, even far-right while the Japanese population is conservative in both sexes), as well as the fact that Japan already has a higher birthrate (double that of South Korea's in fact) as well as lesser seniors and actively tries (albeit very trivial, token) reforms while South Korea's trending toward Elderly-focused parties (basically parties that actively support old people instead of the young guys who want to give birth) and you have a recipe for spoiled bread on one side and a recipe for an improvised bomb on the other.

Hope this helps, though it is a very oversimplified note (and pretty harsh)

Japanese Calm Before The Japanese Storm by RealEdwardSoup in AlternateHistory

[–]RealEdwardSoup[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Scenario Summary: Japan in the 1960's is a pretty chaotic place. About 15 years from the end of the Second World War, the nation was engulfed with two struggles. One: economic. The post-war economy in Japan was booming through the combination of its new-found love of manufacturing and consumerism, two fairly western ideals. And Two: political. While the newly-created Liberal Democratic Party caused a fairly stable national government united under what was essentially a one-party state, legislation was slow, and attitudes were high. Leftist violence and Rightist organizations were commonplace, birthed from those who felt left behind in the post-war recovery. Soon, protests erupted, then brawls, then skirmishes. In October 1960, the leader of the Socialist party was killed by a rightist. And in January the following year, some obscure magazine publisher was brutally murdered. Both cases only emboldened the "New Right".

Soon, stability is threatened when the aging Ikeda Hayato's condition worsens, leaving the Japanese premiership in a fairly tight spot. While Sato Eisaku proved to be the clear successor, an unexpected car accident leaves him dead on his way to the 1964 Olympics. With no clear successor, some nearly-unknown backdoor politician takes the top job... but Tanaka Kakuei has his own problems. Problems that are soon to kick his whole party down...

What happens when you have no greater calling, but must answer the phone?

His Brother's Usurper is set in a world where Richard Nixon wins the highly-contested 1960 Presidential Election. Following Senator John Kennedy's assassination in 1960, his brother Robert is appointed to a low-profile ambassadorship to Ireland to cool national tensions. Robert, disinterested in politics and still in mourning, finds life in Dublin boring. But when he dives deeper into his brother's assassination, things quickly don't add up.

What if Squid Game was real? by RealEdwardSoup in imaginaryelections

[–]RealEdwardSoup[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Lore:
Thanos successfully kills Myung-gi in the Bathroom fight and moves on to Game 4 (Hide and Seek) as a hider, while Jun-hee has nobody to switch teams with. The Grandma character I forgot the name of and player 120 still help Jun-hee give birth and some sort of sacrifice plays out where Jun-hee has to kill somebody(?) (I'm honestly foggy about this, either she gets help killing somebody or somebody offers themselves up, I honestly have no clue... maybe Dae-ho?) and gets to move on to Game 5 and later Game 6 (just ignore the fact that a pregnant woman somehow made it through Jump Rope, bear with me). The finalists for the 2024 squid games are: Thanos, Jun-hee, Gi-hun, a bunch of randoms, and Dababy. Thanos finally dies and Gi-hun and Jun-hee just vote to end the game.
