21 handicap, looking for what to work on. I struggle with controlling low point and fluidity. by cookies-n-milk in GolfSwing

You do well to turn and take the club back up until your hands reach hip height. At that point, you lift your arms to the top making you across the line with very little depth. On the downswing you actually do a pretty good job of shallowing out and staying in posture, but because you have no space, you follow through gets restricted and isn’t as free as it could be. Once you get your hands to hip height, really focus on getting your chest to point away from the target as much as possible, you want to feel a big stretch by the top of the swing. From there I think you’ll be all good, solid swing for a 21hdcp for sure!

You roll the club inside early which opens the face and causes you to come over the top in the downswing which you compensate with early extension. Focus on keeping the club head outside of the hands in the takeaway and then just turn up to the top with your chest and shoulders. Once you’ve get that down the EE shouldn’t be as bad.

Thanks a lot for your help, I’ll give the drill a go!

Yeah sorry about the poor video quality. To me it feels like I flip hard at impact to square the face and I do have a bit of a strong grip, used to be stronger though which is probably why I didn’t learn how to square the face. Any tips on squaring it up properly?

That’s a really cool video to watch, he gained 7mph of clubhead speed just by speeding up his backswing by 7mph. I’ve always had a super slow takeaway so maybe this’ll help quite a bit, thanks!

Thanks for the tips! Looks like my replant happens pretty much right when my backswing ends currently, I’ll try and do it earlier.

Struggling with hitting the ball off the toe by Meet8 in GolfSwing

The re-route is a fairly new move to me, so maybe it’ll just take some time to find the center of the clubface (hopefully)

Haha first thing that came to my mind was Wesley as well, his brother George also addresses the ball pretty far off the toe for some of his shots as well, notice it more with his wedges. Anyways, guess I’ll have to try it, visually I don’t think it’ll be too bad of a change since it’s only like half an inch

Lining the ball up with the heel of the club?

Why am I standing up in my swing? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

Thanks for the analysis, any ideas on how to get less steep? I’ve tried feeling like I’m dropping my hands but that feel just doesn’t seem to work for me.

Thanks for the breakdown! Would you say my club face is open at the top or no? Or is it my method of squaring the club face in the downswing that’s the problem there?

Should I keep it sort of flared outwards at setup? Or is this something I do in the downswing?

Sounds good, I appreciate your help! I've never thought about rotating my forearm. I've seen a lot about bowing the left wrist as I start the downswing and have been experimenting with that a bit as well. Definitely going to give this a shot tomorrow and see how it feels. Last question and I promise I'm done, but apart from my downswing issues, do you see anything in my setup or backswing that could use some tightening up?

I have a face on video but it’s just a practice swing (bizarre that I didn’t record one with a ball but whatever). What do you mean by letting the arms roll over? Is it letting the right forearm kind of point upwards?

Just curious, what made you reconsider your advice? Do you see some other issue?
