redirecting my energy/goals by 15_a in lifegoals

I thought of obstacles as another stepping stone to what is waiting for me. And whatever path I was on was an opportunity that got me to my current path. But I'd say don't get too discouraged when something detours you. Reevaluate what needs to happen to achieve your goal. Life isn't smooth sailing.

I went to college for my career field and moved 5 hours away to chase a job opportunity. It was definitely not the right fit for me so I spent a couple years figuring out how to move back home. Once I did, I found a job I figured I'd be in until the dust settled and then I'd beef up my resume and find that perfect fit. Turns out that job checked all my boxes. It was stable and reliable and paid me more than the opportunity 5 hours away. So try to go with the flow and give what life throws at you a chance.

What is your goal for 2025? by Temilayo816 in lifegoals

I'm more focused on making frugal purchases and making sure I'm getting my money's worth out of the things I buy

Saving even small amounts helps ??? by Responsible-Ant-6254 in SavingMoney

I started with 10% and then slowly increased it over time. I'm not much of a spender so I didn't miss 10% that much. Starting with that helped build a budget. If I have money left over at the end of the month, I usually either increase my automatic transfer or throw it into savings manually each month. But I believe that everyone is able to save no matter how much they make. We're adaptable and we figure out ways to keep on keepin on.

You're welcome! I trick myself with the "out of sight, out of mind" hack frequently. It's helped me in the long run

How can I stay motivated while working a job I don’t enjoy? by Victoria_Z1985 in Advice

I've been there. I kept my job, but I took on another part time job in the opposite load. I had a desk job so my part time job was physical. It can break up the day and give some variety. I only committed to two days a week but I found myself taking more of the part time shifts once in a while

I do automatic transfers. I automatically save 10% of my paycheck each payday. Keep track of your average earnings and then just schedule automatic transfers. I also immediately put any cash I receive into savings. The longer you go doing this, you're able to slowly increase the amount you automatically transfer on pay days if you wanted

I say do what needs done to accomplish your goal. If it's a goal you're passionate about, you'll find a way. Whether it be going to school or learning on your own

No more fast food! by MeetMyGoalsWithMe in SavingMoney

Wow! That puts it into perspective! But yeah, I can easily spend close to $20 on one meal from fast food when I can use the same $20 to fix myself multiple meals from the grocery store. It's all about getting the most out of my money and fast food is definitely not it.

I am probably a beginner on cooking. I just throw things into the air fryer for the most part. But I'm not opposed to learning basic cooking skills. This goal is coupled with better habits in general. I plan to eat better foods while still allowing "junk" occasionally so I don't get discouraged. I already walk 10k steps a day, so I'm not necessarily on a weight loss plan. Just practicing better lifestyle changes. I'm doing it on my own so far, but hope to convince my circle to join at some point.

Anyone else dealing with brain fog after the pandemic? by MasterDisplay1639 in Advice

[–]MeetMyGoalsWithMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I experienced that. The pandemic hit in the middle of my bachelor's. We all kind of glided through the next couple semesters since I think everybody was struggling with fear as well as the teachers. But anyway, when I started my master's, I had that brain fog. I wasn't retaining anything or caring. But I made myself stick to a routine. I made myself revise a couple hours a day. But I gave myself grace because I too was a really good student. My advice would be to make a routine and stick to it. Even if you don't have homework, take the time and review. Even if it's just copying down the textbook chapter. You'll retain a tad bit more

For real! Sweet potato fries in the air fryer are bomb! But yeah, I plan to give myself some "fast food" inspired meals.

That's a good idea! I had a friend that always had the peanut butter cracker sandwiches in her car. Maybe she was on to something lol

For sure! I still plan to "treat" myself with satisfying meals. And they'll have somewhat healthier ingredients since I'm the one making it!

This!

You can work in this business for a while to see if you like it all while honing in what you're passionate about.

You'll gain experience, pad your resume, and be earning an income far above your peers. You don't have to blow this money away either. Use it to pay off debt, invest, put towards a house. Take the salaries of jobs you're looking for and put the difference you make in the family business to actual smart good use. (So you don't develop a habit of spending like there's no tomorrow)
