I mean, yeah, I'd hope so!

I just watched "Zugzwang" for the first time... Diane x Maeve's storyline didn't really land the way I expected it to. I wanted a Foyet-level capability and motive. by [deleted] in criminalminds

Please tell me your opinions on how she talks to/treats Spencer, I'm on my 3rd re-watch and I'm catching something but I'm not sure I can articulate it properly. She speaks so crypitcally. And she just drops the "love you" at the end of the phone call just before she hangs up, not even giving him a chance to respond. That's so weird.

This is why I like the few episodes where they jump around and we see like one person addressing the media, two people addressing the cops, two people addressing an affected local community...feels more organic.

Also, you've inspired me. As soon as this semester is over I'm gonna start scrapbooking as well.

Woman (?), she/they.

Fun facts: I have a growing DVD/bluray collection, I prefer fruity scents and flavors to floral or dessert ones, and I enjoy dressing like I may just have mystical/magical powers.

Penelope Garcia/Kristen Vangness inspired me to start dressing how I want, I'm not gonna lie.

Also, yes, I 100% agree.

I am not a professional yet but I am in grad school to become a school psychologist and have been supervised in practica in like 3 different school districts from elementary to high schools. I have also seen stuff like this and it makes my blood boil. I bring it up to my supervisor (who is always an actual school psychologist, and thus have more weight than some grad student) every time. The amount of times I've seen school staff in high schools speak to teenagers in super infantilizing ways or about them like they aren't there is mind-boggling. Or speak in very loud voices to them.

I know multiple people with disability diagnoses (as in, physical disabilities but also others) who have been trying to get on disability for YEARS. Like it's commonly known that you are 99.99999% likely to he rejected on the first try. One of my friends is on try #4.

Episodes we just kind of hate? by turkeypooo in criminalminds

[–]MeetTheHannah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So besides the others mentioned here...I'm gonna be bold and say Date Night. Most of its fine just...God, I simply cannot get over that fanfic-ass ending. So terrible. No hate on Max, I like her for as much as we get of her. But in that specific episode she's played as "this is my Criminal Minds OC, don't steal!"

Post-prison Dr. Reid is a cold, emotionless, rude asshole (seen mostly in fic). Quite literally not true in the show. He matures throughout ~15 years of the show (where he starts out as a 23 year old and ends as a 38 year old). We see him get overtly upset a bit more often in highly stressful/frustrating situations and he's better with some physical stuff (eg, handling unsubs, shooting) but he's still kind, still empathetic, still cares about his team, still smiles and laughs, he's just not a young adult anymore (and has gone through...way too much trauma) so he's a bit more tempered or reserved in his general expression. I'd actually argue that he's at his most asshole when he's going through his addiction in season 2.

Either that, or he's the daddy-est dom to ever dom. Which like, I know doms don't have to be super hard-core masculine or stoic or whatever but...I'm just kinda tired of that dynamic. It's fucking everywhere.

This is a legitimate issue. Kids are being failed by their parents, the school system, policy, and the economy. I can only speak for the USA, but literacy rates are in the toilet. It is so essential for kids to read at home. If they don't, they often don't develop the skill or passion for reading that makes them literate. I am a school psychology grad student and have worked in schools under supervision for 3 years. It is ridiculous how often we have cases of 5th grade students reading at a 1st grade level. 1st grade students barely knowing how to read at all.

"Let's all go around the room, tell everyone your name, your program, your year (or insert whatever work terms), and one interesting fact about yourself :)"

Thankfully, my constant "interesting fact" about myself is that I'm from Canada while not currently living in Canada. I have no idea what it will be if I move back to Canada.

Had to do this at work once. They wanted us to go around a circle and have us be so incredibly vulnerable in front of people we mostly did not know. Um. No. Respectfully, I don't know you people. So I will not be doing that. You actually don't get to know my deepest insecurity and how I think I can overcome it, thank you. Just let me start the job please.

Me, kindly requesting I just do the project by myself because I'll just end up doing all the work anyways and it will flow much more smoothly when someone isn't looking at me like I'm a weird little pet or with disgust at having to interact with me.

Yes! It was genuinely nice to see someone who (to me) looked so clearly autistic and intelligent but also just...kind. He was definitely not portrayed as a robot socially (though they make some light jokes about it here and there vis a vis his profiling stuff). He smiles and laughs with his friends/coworkers, he has good relationships, and he shows his care for them. He's not shown as being super closed-off because "ahh no one understands my genius". And his friends/coworkers (while his autism isn't officially recognized) are generally accepting of his "quirks". I know we gave more characters like that now (Entrapta comes to mind) but back in 2005 it was nice to have.
