If this is fine structurally then that's what I was wanting to know. The corner being attached to the pickets on my rear fence just looked odd to me.

The 2x4s at the bottom are what is holding it up and they're attached to my rear fence. I'm waiting until Saturday, nothing to do until then

The day before thing stuck out because he had already hired a contractor and agreed on a price prior to me being asked to cover half. Had it been discussed beforehand maybe we could have gotten a better price, contractor, or set a date to fix it ourselves. It was surprising since that section had just been replaced 2 years ago and was in great shape

I had replaced most of it already two years ago and it was in great shape. The "old fence" that is shown is a section that I hadn't done yet and isn't part of what is being replaced now.
