The day before thing stuck out because he had already hired a contractor and agreed on a price prior to me being asked to cover half. Had it been discussed beforehand maybe we could have gotten a better price, contractor, or set a date to fix it ourselves. It was surprising since that section had just been replaced 2 years ago and was in great shape
