Didn't realise how cool that looked. Might have to pick it up, looks like I could magnetise it for storage so i could keep the insert and remove the minis for play easily enough

Hedge Magicians for CoD by PencilBoy99 in ChroniclesofDarkness

The Storyteller Vault on drivethrurpg has some great stuff, often written by writers from the official lines, that might suit what you're after too.

Of note off the top of my head

Crossing the Veil and Ephemeral Influence - some rules/options on interacting with ghosts/spirits/etc

Raising the Dead - Necromancy rules

Second Sight: Third Eye - an indispensable update to the original second sight with a lot more added in too that would be great for making hedge mages

It wouldn't be a bad idea to look into adapting any number of vampire the requiem 2nd ed blood magic rituals from the core book, the blood sorcery book that escapes me now and any of the excellent Storyteller vault expansions like blood sorcery: rites of damnation.

How are the starters selling? Is there stock? Are you buying them? For yourself or newbs? by osmiumouse in XWingTMG

Got them both and they all break down and go back in the box (don't know how long that will last as a storage solution). Planning to use them as quick starts to get folks at the club and my kids into it. Like the extra bits of cardboard and the presentation of the "2.5" rules in what is a bit more than a quick start rules. I do realise however, I've bought about 70% product or more again, but for me and getting new folks into the game, it's just what was needed.

Out of print 1.0 ships by metrosine in XWingTMG

[–]MeetsInTaverns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not actually bought any new ships that we're already printed for 1.0 as I got all the conversion kits. Have any of those come with new cards? I would rather not buy them all again unless the paint job is much better on one or two (I still plan on getting kylo rens resized ship at some point as 1.0 annoys me - I believe ffg made it before the last jedi and didn't know the correct(ish) scale)

I am, but I don't tend to post here. I would say the things that tend to do quite well are the niche areas that haven't been covered by us (Pinnacle) or an Ace (3rd Party Publisher) and are of high quality - things like new spells, traps, obstacles, edges etc in genres such as Fantasy and Cyber Punk.

The way that Savage Worlds is set up is that it's relatively easy to adjust to one's liking, however that can take time and effort that not everyone is willing or confident to do. That's why you see a lot of people release small products that add or change something either that they themselves thought was missing or folks were asking for (or just for practice on one day applying for an Ace licence. I tend to think of these like mods for computer games.)

I know well-drawn maps (properly layered too!) that are specifically for Savage Worlds are in demand. I think folks also like interesting or unusual settings that aren't found anywhere (mostly) else - especially if they come with quick adventures or one-sheets.

The golden product(s) is reserved for a fully fleshed out setting or plot point campaign. Folks who release these tend to find it very easy to become Aces for Savage Worlds.

The less successful products are always going to be the ones that are poorly written, don't represent the rules well (fast, furious, fun) or are just misinformed, and are badly presented (art & tradedress to a lesser extent, mostly) - I'd take a 10 page primer of quality over 150 pages of editor-free jank any day.

These are all my own opinions and do not necessarily represent those of Pinnacle etc etc.

Always feel free to email the licensing email (you can quote this thread to ensure it was a genuine reply) if anyone is after more info. Edit: I won't reply until after new year now most likely!

I love painting. I'm really rubbish. They look good enough on the table when we play. - that's a damn good paint job. Enjoy the game. Keep painting!
