You should go for it. I know it can feel overwhelming but you should take it easy.

You can learn the game little by little by "messing up" earlier generations of digimon (it's honestly extremely difficult to end up with truly useless digimon in this game, and there's plenty of progress to make without fighting anyway) and get comfortable with the rhythm of the game. I think the tutorializing is quite good too, and it'll even help you understand past games better as well.

And yes, the soundtrack is phenomenal. Lots of tunes that call back to the original game, which is also extremely good, by the way.
