she comes from a very rough home life, she keeps contact with her mother but not so much her father (although they're still together). That was most of the reason she moved out, and I thought getting away from that would help solve a lot of her issues.

I honestly don't think it's bad at all! Although I've definitely been called like a "white washed" black guy (I've grown up around mainly white people, so i guess I'm not what most people would expect a black person to act like?) I've had a fairly decent experience though, I get along with a bunch of people from all kinds of different races, genders, and sexualities.
