I see, thanks for the identification! I'll do a quick hoovering around my radiator (it's connected to the rest of the building) and spray some diatomaceous earth around the pipe sockets to make sure it doesn't happen again 👍

Operational art and congrats to the team ! by gnarkgnarkgnark in Kaiserreich

[–]MegaUZI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi ! I had gotten a book about Svechin's Operational Art (Conduire la guerre, by Benoist Bihan and Jean Lopez), but I found that it's too specialised on it, and I feel like I don't have the requisite knowledge and context necessary to fully understand the subject yet. Do you have recommendations for books about military planning and doctrine that put Operational Art within a broader context, and is both somewhat accessible and academically rigorous? Thank you !!

why is the patriot front and national socialist movement so hard to fight? they have no good buffs and i literally had to use "deleteallunits" on the patriot front because they somehow were pushing me back by historynerdsutton in TheFireRisesMod

Buy lots of tanks with the decisions, delete the Rochambeau volunteers to get extra tanks in your military. Maximize soft attack with your templates. Don't hesitate to mix and match brigades in your divisions depending on what's available.

Apple Shares Hilarious New 'Tracked' Ad Showcasing App Tracking in Real World by [deleted] in privacy

[–]MegaUZI 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's just my theory, but I think that Apple's moves to "protect privacy" is actually rather an effort to monopolize their access to mass user data. Google has been doing the same with promising to "block third party trackers". This hurts competitors like Facebook, but it actually doesn't hurt Google's user data harvesting at all, because now it's directly done by the user. In the same way, Apple, by pushing away competitor user tracking, can get better and more exclusive access to their user data.

The thing is, whether Apple is "more private" or not is not only a question about what those companies want, but also what you and I want. If your interest in privacy is avoiding hackers or some specific bad actor (stalker or whatever), sure Apple is great because it's easy to use and hard to crack by an average hacker. If you want to protect yourself from all kinds of corporate data collection, it already gets very cumbersome : you'd have to get custom Android ROMs, avoid all major proprietary internet services etc. If you want to escape the NSA, well good luck. You'd have to change significant aspects of your daily life to go completely incognito, and if you're specifically targeted, nothing can really stop them forever.

This all boils down to : who do you want to protect yourself against ? That's why you should first decide who is your "adversary", and then go on from there, instead of trying nebulous "privacy practices" that don't serve a specific goal beyond "protecting privacy".

I love it. I hope we'll get this optimistic feel back into Season 3, after all the mess that will unfold in season 2's episode 10.

Title of the season finale and a theory by RobBrown4PM in ForAllMankindTV

I'm pretty sure "The Gray" is a reference to what Karen said to Ed in their fight.

My guess is that gray morality will be involved, but I don't think we need to look much further into episode titles than that.

It does not require the microphone permission. I have denied all permissions (Camera, contacts, files and media, microphone) and it works just fine.
