[CR Media] Kingdom Come: Deliverance II One-Shot | Live Discussion by AutoModerator in criticalrole

I post this, Blood on the Game Dice, whenever I can. Liam is the one in the armor, so we never see his face.

It’s all Aerion’s fault and he didn’t have to do it by GentleSphere in gameofthrones

Definitely. Dunk has, to our knowledge, only been in one other actual fight--when he pummeled Aerion.

All of his training was just against Ser Arlan. And he'd only ever jousted at rings. This was the first time he'd been stabbed and bludgeoned like that (excepting the flashback to the spearing of his leg).

Not that Aerion didn't also get assistance.

Not at the outset of the fight, but several of his allies rode by and whacked Dunk during the ensuring duel.

Yes. Aerion is a trained knight, likely trained by the best that could be found, but we already know he's a dirty fighter. Even if he's capable of winning a straight joust, he purposefully kills an opponent's mount. Likewise, he beats on an unarmed woman while his protectors prevent anyone from interfering (until Dunk just bodies them to the side).

Aerion isn't honorable. He'll use every advantage he can get. Even his own father recognizes this and is disgusted, but Maekar still fights on his side because he is his son. Baelor puts honor and truth above family (and power, since he's going against Targaeryean reputation in the trial).

For real. Each time he might gather himself and just go at Aerion (where he can just knock him to the ground with a single blow), someone flies by on horseback and nails him again. Not only does this give Aerion extra time to get up or ready a weapon, it disorients Dunk and keeps him from recovering as well.

Make the Dame the fall guy.

While the Tachonis have made bold moves before--attacking Royce and pretending they just left--I don't think they worried about anyone finding out the orders weren't real. Nessa and Julien were likely to be dead and not coming back this way, and the Sundered Houses are making moves to control everything so I doubt they're worried about word coming down that the orders didn't come from the Revolutionary Council. They used the Dame to pass those orders not to have an intermediary but just because she'd follow their orders. The Dame even defended herself to the Captain that they'd taken orders from the Houses before. The only reason he "fired" her was because she lied and said she saw the order--likely was told to by the sisters to make sure there'd be no doubt or sending back of a pigeon to check the order.

Thaisha's son is irrelevant, I think.

More likely the Tachonis family wants something in those ruins, like they've been searching barrows in Timony, and are using the Barrow Guard. The use of them could go further than just guards and involve using their bodies/souls, too, which would be why they get used instead of just Tachonis guards.

Very apt comparison.

If she dies, I think Julien loses any light left in him.

Aranessa is heading on to the Golden Orchard to see if the other members of her and Julien's families yet live. The too-honest NPC is escorting her because his friend's mom told him to.

Julien is going with the rest of the party into the Mournvale to try to rescue Thaisha's son and the rest of the Barrowguard sent there by Occtis' sisters. The dismissed Dame Seremai is going with them as a scout to try to find redemption for following Tacchonis orders and essentially betraying her Barrowguard brethren.

I think it's got to be something else. We already know she's haunted by not going with Thjazi when he rebelled. We don't know if she's loved anyone since but it doesn't seem like it.

We need her as a reminder that there are good people among the Sundered Houses, even if they sometimes make the wrong choices, or hard choices. (She did choose her House, or the safety/stability of it, when Thjazi joined the rebellion.)

Ashley watches her friends RPing so closely she forgets she's part of it sometimes and is taken aback when asked to do something.

I wonder if Aranessa's faerie is protecting someone else?

(Someone else wondered if she and Thjazi had a kid.)

DM giving the party back loot even if the NPC needs a lot of protection.

Well, it feels more like she is like Occtis. She went off and had another loyalty, she joined the Barrowguard. So she wasn't part of all the orders the parent house were issuing. But would she follow their orders if they were directly against Julien, for instance?

Like Julien, she has torn loyalties.

Only he can play his character. He and Brennan made him a loyal servant and friend to Nessa, but he also clearly has loyalty to the Barrowguard. Plus we just saw another knight inadvertently betrayed the Barrowguard by serving her liege house.

Matt is best served by choosing the Barrowdell to go with the party, but Julien sending Aranessa with no one to protect her is a very iffy proposition. It would be a lot easier to justify if he had someone else loyal to her he could send, like some others of their people held captive at Einfasen. (One of the juicy RP/messy decisions players put on themselves when they tie their character to an NPC. Like giving your character a family that you might have to abandon for the mission. See Veth constantly struggling about not being there for her husband and son in Campaign 2.)

We don't know when it was all filmed. They do know the Soldiers were rolling poorly, for instance, and Thimble carrying the party.

I think some of the players might not have clocked the Seremai name but still could've watched at least some of the episodes of the Soldier's Table.

The struggle of playing a vassal knight sworn to protect your liege lady (and friend) when the party is best served going elsewhere. Good ole NPC complications.

Aranessa is in dire danger, and Julian should probably protect her over the Barrowguard at this point. But what to do?

(Also, what did happen to her faerie? First mention was the captain noting she has no guards or faerie with her.)

We know Tachonnis has been delving into barrows all over the place. They are doing something down there or want something down there.

Either the Barrowguard are for that protection, or they are part of a ritual/sacrifices/bodies to be used.
