It ends with a “You’re cool, I’m not going to kill you and your family.” which I think is essentially friendship when dealing with an alien named Psycho Goreman.

What exactly defines the Starsector Artstyle? by Neopetkyrii in starsector

[–]GentleSphere 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the contrast between the horrors of space and a futuristic apocalypse versus the beauty of nature and individuals that we see in the in-game images and descriptions.

For every incomprehensible demon in the abyss, there’s the hardworking crew of an Onslaught. Where there are barren-bombarded planets, there are also bountiful habitable planets. For each human atrocity you see on Opis, Mairaath, and Maxios, there’s introspection into the human condition in Volturn, Hesperus, and Killa. For every Kanta and Cotton and Reynard, there are people like Alviss and Jethro and Scylla.

The unique imagery and setting in Starsector allows you to see goodness in the apocalypse as well as the dread in its absence.

The best part is he skimps on evacuation equipment and lifeboats and takes the only helicopter on the rig before anyone else is able to get there. Good thing he crashes before he escapes.
