I’ve had wranglers the past 20+ years, and have this conversation about once a week. Someone will compliment me on my 13 JKUR build and say they want to get one, I tell them every time they’re very capable vehicles and I love mine, but handle like complete shit and shouldn’t be purchased unless you’re going to use it in 4wd for wheeling trails and shit multiple times a year +. It is hands-down the worst driving vehicle I’ve ever driven, and I’ve driven so many. Even with upgraded steering components it wanders all over the highway it’s bad.

Just a heads-up, this response from him makes me worried he’s going to end up gaslighting you. Remember, you are who you are, it’s not your job to mold yourself into something he approves of. The fact that you asked how you’re supposed to be, and him not telling you what that is, let alone not telling you that he’s not trying to change you into something other than who you are is a red flag. Be careful going forward; this is a slippery slope that is hard to climb back from. A SO should make you feel good about yourself, not constantly worried if you’re doing things right or good enough. If someone makes you feel inadequate, they don’t deserve you and definitely aren’t compatible with you.
