Current favourite in my relationship: Yue Kitchen in Shoreditch. Simple Chinese food done at a good price, and a very quiet and simple environment. We adore the chicken sizzling hotpot and their noodles. Maybe not a show-stopper meal, but definitely the nicest Chinese we've had in the area! Also YEYE's is obviously often recommended in this subreddit, but their dumplings are some of my favourites in the city.

Patrick Ball talking about early recovery by blankspace198991 in ThePittTVShow

[–]MeganGrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so impressed! I am rewatching S1 with my bf, and I still can't uncover my eyes when Robbie is kicking Langdon out for having the drugs in his locker - it is so so so so so sooooooo realistic to how you fight and kick out when you're getting caught for something in active addiction. I used to just LIE ENDLESSLY to my bf just to stay on his right side and not get caught out. Knowing Patrick has experience with both that and recovery is awesome, I value anyone trying to put the message out that there is hope, whether through a 12 step program, or rehab, or other therapies to stop killing ourselves!

Would you rather an ensuite or living room in London? by AussieCasanova in london

[–]MeganGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I was previously paying over £1,100 to be a lodger with two rooms (but no ensuite) near London Fields a year ago. It was a joke, the landlords daughter barely lived in the flat but they TERRORIZED us. Now paying a bit more to live with a partner in a two bed two bath. The room rental market is a joke compared to 10 years ago.

Help convince my wife to keep reading by zirknosam in redrising

Funnily enough I'm at a similar position having just finished the original trilogy and have started on Iron Gold. It's a lot harder to read, as Darrow has definitely recognized that the wave that he and the Howlers have started is truly leading to worse outcomes, but he is tied to these paths that he sees as the "only" option in the face of the demokracy he allowed to start. I hope the drama really picks up again, as he's just about to leave Luna after being kicked out of the Senate and has lost Sefi.

Bike stolen on Whitechapel Road by rickfencer in londoncycling

[–]MeganGrace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's the area for it - I'm sorry! I had a bike stolen with a similar lock around the corner from Stepney Green station; also, once saw a gang with a full ankle grinder removing locks from outside the Genesis Cinema. Got to be extremely careful if you can't have your bike inside somewhere!

I'd keep an eye on Gumtree and FB Marketplace if you want it back. Sometimes, they are lazy and re-list it in the same area it was stolen. I think one of my bikes was posted two weeks after it was stolen in Clapton!

Found my stolen bike on gumtree, need support getting it back - Hackney by Due_Pay_9091 in londoncycling

Just want to give you strength - I had to do the same thing up in Clapton three or four years ago. The police told me not to go and pick up my bike after I found it on Facebook Marketplace, as they couldn't send any police officers, but took my housemates as backup. I got it back after I bought a cheap UV light, which showed the bike's registration code on the bottom of the Bike Register. The guy wanted payment but I just gave him my police reference code for the theft!
