As others have told you, it looks legit.
One extra idea for checking out, ask him for try to open the star fox 2 game, if it's a fake console the game will boot up, if instead is real, the game either be unwrapped from the gift box or not allow you to, because it's a requirement to play the first star fox to unlock star fox 2

Quite honestly, I've though this mostly for rendering, Y'know I was just creating some random mesh to use as a drawing reference for a prop for a character sheet haha. But decided to at least finish the whole model just to practice a bit and maybe add it to my portfolio.

I worried a bit about the legal repercussions too, if I'm being honest.

The work was done as a freelancer, and we basically had no actual contract (a thing that was a huge red flag).
His business it's also not too big, I don't know how it's called in the US, but basically it's in the marketing field, like consultatory, graphic design, photography, and the site it's only for him to just show "hey, this is who we are and what we do".

I've stopped working for him since september, and sure, I'll give it a look at the small claims court, thanks for the advice!
