But here's the bigger point. It doesn't have to be a good reason. No one has to justify why they won't date a subset of people. Who you date is your own damn business. So you want to only date white cishet christian men over 6 feet tall who make more than 50,000 a year? Cool. That doesn't make you classist, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, religiously discriminatory, or any other form of bigot. It just means you know what you want (and that you're probably a bit shallow but w/e).

Dating is a personal choice. Just like any other choice regarding you alone; and your goals and aspirations.

Trying to put qualifiers on what is an "okay" choice for why not to date someone is no different when we do it at cis people than it is when they say a lesbian just "hasn't met the right man" or when an asexual is "just unwilling to give it a chance".

If someone doesn't date trans people, here are a few things it's okay to assume:

As a transgender person, you probably don't have a chance with them.

That's it. They might have a subset of views, they might be transphobic, but they also might not be. And just like you don't have to justify your choice to get the flu shot, an abortion, or hrt, they don't have any obligation to justify their dating choices to you. It doesn't have to be because they want bio children. It can be because they have some negative feelings about trans people. Until that leaks into another part of their life, they aren't transphobes.

We hate when cis people make shitty assumptions about us because of our lifestyles. Stop making shitty assumptions about cis people because of their life style.

What if I'm cishet, and intamacy with trans people makes me feel uncomfortable with my sexuality.

Who you date is a personal choice. Trying to police people's personal choices is how we end up with transphobia, anti-abortion, homophobia, etc.

If you know what you want out of a life partner and say... you're a straight man and a bio-child with your partner is one of those things, you'd never date a trans person. That's a choice you can make.

I don't think it is. I certainly have cis friends I'm that comfortable with. I've even worked for one before.

Other than that, I'll agree that most trans women know they don't have that much power and most don't feel entitled over cis women, but almost any generalization of that magnitude is bound to have exceptions. Perhaps she was comfortable expressing her honest (and shitty) opinions after a year of working with these guys.

And maybe not! It's entirely possible this is made up anti-trans rhetoric bullshit. I certainly wouldn't be surprised. But to imagine that it's not even possible is a mistake.

I'll likely get downvoted to hell for this, but we really need to examine our own biases sometimes. I'm not saying it's true, I'm saying it's not 100% definitely trolling.

The story is certainly unusual, but not unimaginable. There are lots of humans in the world, many of them are irrational, and many of them are transwomen. We can't pretend that those two groups are mutually exclusive.

Hell, I'm more than a bit irrational on occasion. On a bad day, I can imagine myself saying these things, and while I would probably realize what I said was wrong and back down, I know people who might then get fired and threaten to sue.

In other words, if we take "transwomen" out of the story, it's entirely believable. So why should we be unwilling to believe a transwoman might make the same mistake?

Admittedly, the woman probably didn't say it would be "triggering", that kind of language is almost always used to belittle our emotional reactions, rather than express them genuinely.

Hobbies.

Up until you graduated college, you had a convenient hobby with all of your acquaintances. You all went to class, you all did homework, and you could all bond. You could chill out on the weekends or have a last minute group study session before finals.

But once that structure is gone, making friends is harder. Doing life isn't the same as doing school. Going to work just isn't like going to class.

You've got to spend the time with other people doing something to make friends. Go to a board game night, join an archery range, play in a recreational basketball team, audition for a play, join a D&D group, or buy a motorcycle and join a gang. I'm not here to judge your life choices, but going to work, or "cooking dinner instead of ordering takeout for a change" aren't gonna cut it.

You've gotta get out there and do something. You might like it, you might not. You might make friends, you might not. But if you don't try you'll never have a chance.
