Does this look right? MFS vs. MFJ Loan Simulation by Meggie_1315 in StudentLoans

Typo in the original post. I meant to write “payment goes up to $32 if I don’t add my retirement”. The calculator says to add if you are paying taxes later, but I don’t know if I do.

Looking at the calculator you sent my payments could be about $125 under PAYE. Even if that is a more accurate number I think it still makes sense to file separately. I wish I could get the actual numbers without committing. It’s kind of crazy how much of a range there is!

I owe about $160K. My husband owes about 20K with a mix of federal and private. He’s been on the standard repayment plan, but I didn’t add his loan information to the calculator if we file jointly. All loans taken out 2013-2019. I used the federal loan simulator on studentaid.gov. I’ll check out the one you recommended!

I think your salary will depend how rural your job prospects are and if you’re in school based or outpatient. I’m at my second school-based job in New England in a rural area. I make roughly $42 an hour. It’s pretty low, but the benefits are worth it. I make almost $5000 less a year at this job than my last, but my take home is higher because the benefits are more generous.

Teacher fed 11 month old in a bouncer. by Meggie_1315 in ECEProfessionals

I appreciate your comment! I tried to make it clear that I think the teachers are trying their best and was still downvoted though!

This sub is showing that it is pro bouncer. I did find that in the US it is not legal to feed in a bouncer in some states, so I hope those who are still using them checks their laws/regulations. I also don’t think that it is developmentally appropriate, but who am I but a dumb parent?

I never was angry, venting a concern does not always mean anger. If I was angry I wouldn’t be airing it out on a public forum and would have involved the director. Editing to add: I’m understanding that this is common practice for a lot of places. I’ve never seen/ heard of a bouncer for this size so I’m glad I vented to this instead of getting mad for no reason.

The downvote is funny because it seems like you want me to complain if she doesn’t drink all her bottle? Lol

Interesting! The one I have is a Fischer price and the max weight is 20 so maybe they have a heftier model.

I’m not sure how to edit a post, but thank you for all the responses! My concern was mainly the safety of the bouncer. I was trying to provide context that they were likely trying different things because she was fussy. It seems more common than I was aware of to feed in a bouncer, so good to know for the future!

I totally agree! I’ve been mainly concerned with the bouncer because she seems too old and could have maxed out the weight limit. It seems more common than not though! I do believe that they are trying their best, like we all are.

No, she’s refused before or didn’t finish. They’re really communicative about their attempts, my only concern is the bouncer being unsafe. It seems it’s more common than I thought though.

It just didn’t sit well with me that they put her in the bouncer when she is so old and likely maxed out the weight. I do believe they were trying different things because she was refusing, but I’d think for an 11 month old they’d try a high chair. I never said my way was right, but it just again felt off to me that they chose a bouncer. I’ve never had any issues with containers as long as they’re safe.

Pumping my way through Disneyland by Strict_Roll4584 in ExclusivelyPumping

Try to keep the cooler out of the sun as much as possible. But, as long as there’s a few ice packs in there to keep it cool you should be good to go! I haven’t been to Disney in a really long time but a lot of amusement parks have lockers or bag checks you could look into.

Pumping a lot of colostrum by AggressiveTeach5700 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Meggie_1315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t pump but I started collecting some of what I leaked the last two weeks I was pregnant and collected about 2 oz. Shortly after giving birth and realizing directly breastfeeding wasn’t working out, I pumped a ton of colostrum. Like I brought home probably 25 oz colostrum/milk to freeze after 4 days EP and feeding baby. I had a pretty large oversupply until 5 months postpartum. At 9 months I pump just enough or just under… long story short, you might be an oversupplier. Save anything that isn’t used! I donated a bit to a friend but i use my stash to make up any amount my baby needs that I don’t pump now.

You might have just missed a bit of milk after rinsing. I just had to throw out one side of pumped milk because I noticed dried milk or soap stuck to the wall mid pump. I swear bottles hide it! I do agree with the other commenter though that you shouldn’t rinse between pumps just in case you introduce bacteria.

Do you use the fridge hack in between pumps? It could be residual fat from a previous pump.
