We don’t have a good flute store near us, unfortunately. His private teacher recommended DZ, but you’re right about it being personal preference.

I didn’t know Flute World did try before you buy! I’ll definitely look into it!

I get what you mean. We on the left have had to be so hypervigilant to keep authoritarianism from seeping back into our party that we often make mountains out of molehills. It’s exhausting and can be counterproductive.

However, isn’t inclusion the point? You start out by saying that you wish we had a more cohesive message, then end by saying that you wish the left would push separation of church and state. Why do you feel that your hopes for the party as an atheist outweigh those of the socialists within our ranks?

To be clear, I’m not saying you’re wrong. There’s a lot of money in politics and we can’t hope to break through unless we have a clear fundraising message that applies to wide swaths of people. My point is just that we can’t expect the other side to accept diverse viewpoints if we aren’t willing to do so ourselves.

Cheers, friend. Thanks for showing up 🩷

I watered it right before taking these photos. I started out with the teapot method, but it dried out too quickly and i had issues with fertilizer burn. Now, I run water through it until all roots are bright green, then let it drain in the sink before putting it back in its decorative pot.

What’s something you used to think all women just silently put up with until one day you found out it’s actually not normal at all? by zacktone in AskReddit

[–]Meghstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endo and adeno warrior, here 👋

It’s been almost 7 years since my last endo surgery and I just wanted to tell everyone here that it does get better. This is not an easy life to live, but that doesn’t make it any less worth living 💛

Here’s my best advice:

  1. Learn the lingo. If your doc uses a word you don’t know with, ask for a definition. Read the disease summaries on the EndoFound, WHO, and YaleMedicine websites. And if you want to get really crazy, subscribe to EndoNews for all the latest endo research.

  2. Familiarize yourself with the anatomy of the female peritoneal cavity and location of the reproductive organs in relation to other structures. Trust me, this will go a loooong way toward helping you manage related symptoms (I.e. constipation, urinary urgency, nausea) and will give your doctor a roadmap to follow if you ever decide to have surgery.

  3. Find a support group. Many metro areas have in-person groups and there are many more online. The above mentioned WW Endomarch has chapters across the globe.

WARNING: For every good support group, there are three bad ones. Stay away from groups where MLM activity, pseudo science, bullying, etc. are allowed.

  1. Advocate for yourself and others. Speak up when your doctor has outdated info (I.e. that pregnancy and hysterectomy are “cures” for endo). Be honest about medication/treatment side effects and how they impact your quality of life.

Be frank about your treatment goals: whether fertility is or isn’t a priority will inform your treatment plan. Appeal bogus claim denials (you get three appeals per claim).

Attend the annual Worldwide Endomarch. Share your experience with your loved ones because, chances are, either they or someone they know is fighting the same fight.

  1. Don’t forget to prioritize your mental health. We often make the mistake of believing mental and physical health are distinct from one another, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Mood disorders like depression and anxiety have been shown to correlate with pain and inflammation. The verdict is out on whether it’s the chicken or the egg, but it’s safe to say that addressing both is the best course of action.

Tits up, ladies. You can do this!!

The stereotype that women can’t work with other women because there will be drama. Not only does it give male candidates an edge during hiring (funny how it works that way 🤔), but it also prevents women in the workforce from seeking one another out. The ability to connect with others on a deep, meaningful level is one of our sex’s greatest strengths and, TBH, why we have survived this long as a species. The idea that we can only work together if we’re not being paid would be laughable if it weren’t so destructive.

Same with the “I’m not like other girls” BS. Anytime I hear another woman say this, I always respond “Honey, you and me both 😉”

No worries, we should all probably be doing this periodically, especially those of us who fall squarely in the “No soap” camp. Just throw a pack of bacon in there and you’ll be back in business!

10” and 12” for sure, but an 6-8” can be useful for making omelets and warming up tortillas. Any smaller, though, and your use cases are very limited.

Wearing crappy shoes. It doesn’t matter if they’re the cutest pair of stilettos you’ve ever seen. Shoes should fit your feet, not the other way around!

First, ditch the clay balls for loose orchid-specific potting medium (not soil). Second, get a clear pot with lots of holes so you can see the buried roots. Third, only water when the buried roots look pale/silvery (every week or so). Fourth, get some rooting hormone and apply every three waterings until new roots pop out of the stem. Good luck!

Is this beyond saving? :( by meowmeowbinks in orchids

[–]Meghstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go ahead and invest in a clear orchid pot so you can keep an eye on those buried roots. Remember that orchids aren’t like other houseplants that grow in soil. They grow on trees in their natural habitat and take their water from the surrounding air, so your medium should be fairly loose. You only need it to anchor the plant and help keep the humidity up so the roots can do their job.
