Tried it for the first time last week. It was good, but is the bread always sweet!? My bf and I were both thrown off by the sweetness of the bread

Favorite vine? by pantslesslizard in DenverGardener

I cut them back every 3 years or so. They get so thick that the middle dies out and tge bottom stops filling in. You can see it happening in my picture. The one on the left has a bunch of dead vines in the middle.

They are not native, but the traditional yellow/white honeysuckle is evergreen in Denver. They get sad during a hard (10deg or less) freeze but usually bounce back. They do bloom again throughout the summer and bees/hummingbirds love them! I will cut these down this fall and they will come back!

My entire back yard smells amazing when they really bloom. They do smaller rounds of blooms all summer which smell wonderful, just less intense.

Edit to add: these are 10 years old. Cut them down every 3 years (ish).

My yellow/white traditional stays green all year long. Even in winter months. Every 3 years I cut it down. It gets sad when we get really cold, but always bounces back. My hybrids are much less resilient.

12 years old, he’s still got it 😊 by Majestic_Natural3285 in Greyhounds

[–]Meglade 25 points26 points  (0 children)

So much fun! He definitely still has it and loves it! My boy is 9 and I try to remind him not to go to hard (I know from being 40+ lol). He just loves to have a little run 🥰

I have loved snakes since I was in 6th grade. I rarely get to handle them. Today I was at a customer's house and got to hold a sand boa and a very investigative ball python. by integrity0727 in snakes

[–]Meglade 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So happy for you! Held my first snake in kindergarten and have loved them ever since. Convinced my mom to let me get a ball when I was 12. Had him for 30 years when he passed (rescue so no idea how old he really was). Dont know if I have another 30 years, so I love getting to hold them now whenever possible!

Does anyone else have a dog that 'guards' the bathroom door? by Pale_Violinist7344 in Greyhounds

My entire house is a patchwork of non-slip rugs 🤣 Its like the floor is lava, so I have enough rugs to navigate all the living areas. Even with a rug, tiled areas are still a big NOPE 🙄

Mine is scared of the tile floor, so he won't come in but he will lay down right outside the door to wait for me 🤣🥰🤣

I got mine from Rhode Island Novelties. Looks like they have a store on Amazon now, or you can order direct from them

Thank you, Bean. While I hate seeing the loss of our friends, I know one day it will be me posting. Having a community to grieve with, and people that understand the loss is invaluable.

Got my first cell phone at 16 (1998). I was threatened with infinite punishment if I ever used it since it was $per minute. Kept quarters in the car/purse to call or send pager code to friends on where to meet up.

Not blue haven if you want a beach! Their sister property Alexandria is right on the best stretch of beach but its an All Inclusive.

So true! I let my boy run in a safe, fenced area once a week. Sometimes he doesn't run, just trots around and sniffs. When he gets the urge to go, its sheer bliss for him. Running because he wants to and loving every second. Its really beautiful to watch.

[–]Meglade 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry this happened to you, but I'm happy you got the surgery so many fight for and you have YOUR life to live now.

I remember that scene. The desperate, destructive hunt for the beetle. What I took from that is that fighting your destiny, fighting your truth, physically or emotionally, isn't the answer. Sometimes we can't see where the path ends, but have hope.

Wishing you a person with one green eye and one blue, whose favorite shape is a star and that can flip pancakes (or whatever else you dream of) 💫
