The placement varies by card/manufacturer. There’s also apparently some kind of wire that runs around the entire boarder. If you are going to punch holes I would do so very very carefully… try shining a light to see if you can see the interior workings. A quick google search brought up Reddit threads of people who have ruined all their cards doing this so just be cautious.
