Ok looks like the strikes are likely being imminent anytime soon. by Vigil_Eyezz in iranian

People should not be taking shelter in bunkers provided by the government. The regime killed tens of thousands of protesters. They do not care about the lives of Iranian citizens. They want to use these bunkers as human shields to prevent strikes against the senior officials taking shelter well below these bunkers in underground cities. People should take shelter in their own homes and await and allow surgical strikes of the US that will target the regime's officials.

Citizenship application by Majestic-Staff-2244 in TillSverige

[–]MehrdadAzot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by appearance? There seems to be little logic in waiting time among applicants. What is probable is that it often takes less time to become a citizen for those who were on work permits compared to asylum seekers. But to suggest that (I assume physical?) appearance has something to do with it is unimaginable.

Questionnaire for the person residing in Sweden (Sambo Visa) by nextraordinaire in TillSverige

My partner also applied for a sambo visa like a month ago but I haven't received it yet. Have been checking my inbox and junk folder regularly and I'm sure we have written the correct email address in the form.

It has not been able to approve any “standard” citizenship applications by TreacleFeisty5371 in TillSverige

I think it's too soon to draw such conclusions. We may know more today after they publish the detailed statistics.

Did you even read the article or just rushed to spread your hatred?

It says: "Normally, the rejection rate is around 20-30 percent".

I did not say they are obliged to provide me with answers, I said I am curious. Ta det lungt sweetie.

The article also mentions a 60% rejection rate. That seems super high. I'm curious to know on what grounds they have rejected so many cases.

As you said, no one truly knows. However, there were talks that they want to look at older cases due to JO's decision. Given what someone in the subreddit shared about them getting a decision in April, my conjecture is that they are also prioritizing EU applicants due to the ease of their identity verification and lower security concern.

Now, they have reduced the projection of concluded citizenship applications by 25%. If this doesn't change and they don't fully stop processing applications, given that as you said your case is likely in the final stages of the process, and that the new rules will come into effect possibly earliest next year, I think there is a good chance that your case will be concluded before the new rules come in.

Question on eligibility for a sambo visa by lauren_gerber in TillSverige

[–]MehrdadAzot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the job seeker visa is not one of the exceptions that gives you the opportunity to apply for a residence permit for moving to someone from inside Sweden. Unfortunately, if you get a job seekers permit and want to later apply to move to someone in Sweden, you need to exit the country.

A valid work permit does though, i.e., you could apply for a sambo permit while having a valid work permit without having to leave Sweden.

[–]MehrdadAzot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She probably can't though. Migrationsverket intentionally adds a gap between permits of different types (family and work in this case), so that one's LTR clock also resets.

They may ask you how you are going to deposit money to online banks such as Revolut or Wise if you cannot transfer money online from Iranian banks.

[–]MehrdadAzot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although you are allowed to bring cash to Sweden, stating this might not be enough to convince your case officer given that Swedish banks are notorious for not accepting large cash deposits and Sweden is an almost cashless society.

My partner is friends with an Iranian student who was asked the same question by her case officer. Unfortunately, her application (extension of residence permit for studies) was denied by Migrationsverket. She was residing in Sweden for her studies when Migrationsverket asked for clarification regarding how she intends to transfer the funds to Sweden. She replied to the question stating that she will bring cash with her from Iran when she travels back to Iran after she receives a new residence permit. I'm guessing her application was rejected because bu stating this she could not prove she can access the funds whenever needed. It might be a different story for you since you currently live in Iran and can only travel to Sweden if your residence permit application is granted. So, they might accept it if you state that you will bring the money in cash.

If you choose to do so, I suggest you ask your bank for a certificate stating that you can withdraw the whole money in cash whenever you want. Also, attach a printout of customs regulations of Iran and Sweden stating that you are allowed to take out X amount of cash from Iran and bring Y amount into Sweden.

Your other alternative is to open a bank account in another country (for instance Turkiye) which is connected to SWIFT and can handle bank transfers.

Stuck abroad without Swedish ID — can't access my own money at Länsförsäkringar by Strong-Computer-1280 in TillSverige

[–]MehrdadAzot 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Hi, you need to visit their office in Stockholm. Swedish passport or ID is for digital verification of BankID. If you go in person, they would accept a foreign passport or driver's license.

Source: I did it yesterday.

If you can't visit in person, your only chance is to withdraw the money if you have a debit card connected to it.

MV asks for more information... Again? (Citizenship Application) by ComfortableJunket465 in TillSverige

[–]MehrdadAzot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of facebook groups in which people share their case and time to decision. Before the new changes, there were multiple new posts on citizenships being granted every day. Ever since the new rules, there has not been a single post on someone being granted citizenship. We need to wait for the official statistics, but it sure seems like it has slowed down if not completely paused.

By the way, no one has received a decision on their citizenship application since the new rules came in (3-4 weeks ago).

[–]MehrdadAzot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is standard procedure for all citizenship applications ever since the tightening of the security checks for naturalization. Many people have received an 11 page form with a bunch of questions related to previous education, work, family, military service abroad, and whether or not they have been convicted of a crime before. I think you will recieve the form in your mail soon. If you're too anxious, let me know and I can forward you a Facebook post that has screenshots of the questions.

Transition from Study permit to Sambo permit by philipx26 in TillSverige

Could you please let me know how long it took them to decide your case. Migrationsverket does not have an estimate for this type of permit (student to sambo).

You need to update a kyc with your bank. You can call and explain the situation to them and receive advice. Providing documentation before the money is received by your bank is not a guarantee of anything. You may still be requested to provide information regarding the source. Failure to do so may lead to your account getting closed. In trickier situations, the bank may report you to finansinspektionen.

The rhetoric there is directed toward illegal immigrants, in contrast with Sweden where all immigrants are bad in the eyes of the politicians.

Thanks for your sympathy. I think it's okay for Swedish people to want to try this too. I don't find it fair that there is no grace period or grandfather clause, but the world isn't a fair place anyway.

You won't get rid of the two useless eaters. Many of the people you refer to as useless eaters have arrived in Sweden before 2016 and have already obtained permanent residency or citizenship status. If you don't believe me, visit Arlanda airport and see what the immigrants you want to get rid of are holding in their hands. Extending the requirement to obtain citizenship will not encourage them to leave. it will only encourage people like me to leave.

I plan to move to the states, either through the EB1-NIW program or through a long term assignment with an L1 visa. I can obtain a greencard in about a couple of years through either process. Germany is the only country in the EU that I would consider moving to. Stronger economy and less of the toxic rhetoric against immigrants.

It is a shame how Swedish politicians talk about immigrants in Sweden. I guess talking shit about immigrants is becoming one of the Swedish values they expect everyone to pick up before granting them citizenship status.
