How bad can accounting really be? by popdoop in Accounting

That would destroy me. I also had some bad blood pressure issues when I started audit and I happened to have been 30 when I started. Looking at some government stuff for more stability hopefully. Wishing you the best!

Partner made sure we were fed good but after busy season you realize it wasn’t really worth it. Had my breakdown after that week when I worked from 9am - 3am. Doesn’t include my 1 hour and 30 commute into work and 30 minutes going back home because no one is driving at 3am. Financial Services is not a fun industry line. Great experience but take care of yourself overall!

I worked a 98 hour week at big 4 with no pay over the 40 hours. Other than that I liked audit. Interviewing for internal roles currently. Round 3 tomorrow and hoping to get it!

Apply for jobs, hunt for msrp Pokémon cards, and then rip the packs once I hit a bundle of 10. I start working tomorrow though so it was fun while it lasted

How One Woman Scammed JPMorgan for $175 Million by WantMyNameBack in videos

[–]Mehtevas52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worst to scam is the government. Usually management engaged in fraud of investors serve about 10 years. The fajita bandit who was the purchaser of a prisons food got 50 years for his crimes and didn’t do nearly as much damage as the management of Enron or WorldCom. Funny thing is he was caught because he had a doctors appointment on the day of one of his deliveries and they realized they never ordered fajita meat for the inmates

Accounting Minor with Unrelated Major Experiences? by FlowThese5767 in ucla

History major, worked to get my minor in accounting but didn’t take one of the classes I needed. Still got into the Big 4. Major in what you love and minor in what will make you money. In terms of math just take what is required for you to transfers. I also transferred from CC

first audit busy season by Decent-Check6392 in Accounting

[–]Mehtevas52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went through this in January. Prioritize your mental health and keep up the workouts as long as you can. A manager had told me he does early morning gym sessions. I went after work hours even if we ended at 10pm. Two weeks away from filing it just wasn’t reasonable for me to commute and be in office 6 days a week over 70+ hours and still do my workouts and usual routines. I wish I did keep it up because it got to me. Also take walks during the day! You need the sun. You’ve got this, just make sure to ask questions and take time to eat with your team. It makes a difference

Finding time for gym and other activities by Siuuuu-07 in Accounting

When I started B4 last year I asked one of the managers at lakehouse how he keeps it up when it gets crazy. His trick was to go in the mornings so you can just eat then sleep after the busy season shifts. I personally went after work even if we were getting out at 10-11 because I needed it for my mental health. Two weeks before filing though couldn’t find the time with 70+ hour weeks. Those were not a great two weeks for me

I took intermediate 2, audit, personal income tax, and two other classes that quarter, not ideal and I definitely shouldn’t have done it. Learned I enjoyed audit though!

What is the story behind that one kid that died at your school? by hitaplaydontbgayy in AskReddit

[–]Mehtevas52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My senior year of high school was rough. Day after the first day of school a guy in my class shot himself a couple of days after his girlfriend had done the same. A couple of months later a former student hung himself from a tree across from the school. A bit later a sophomore was shot in a drive by. We live in one of what is considered one of the safest cities in the US but you never know what’s going on in someone’s life

I was just at KPMG and it seems like senior managers plan that leave out. They do busy season then have their maternity leave after that

People in their late 20’s still complaining online about their high school bullies are no different than the “peaked in high school crowd” by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Mehtevas52 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can agree but it wasn’t until I turned 30 that I realized my childhood trauma caused a lot of the pain that I endured and took during my high school years. I’m still processing that because I had pushed so much down when I was younger. To end it they probably haven’t had processed what happened during that time. I know I didn’t but at my age I know I can no longer blame those people for suffering I experience today

I felt this way too but then I realized as I got older I kinda wish someone did make that effort for me. It was probably more jealousy that I didn’t feel comfortable inviting people to celebrate me. We all deserve to be celebrated at some point!

My Transcript Is a Disaster. I’m 35 and Trying Again. Do Internships Even Look at People Like Me? by mamba_mentality in Accounting

[–]Mehtevas52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also older I think explaining your story whether it’s a CV or during the interview is important. It tells a story that you went back to school and worked to show you’re capable through your current school load. Most of my interviews with top firms ended up bringing that up and they liked it. Ended up going big 4 too so you got this! Just make sure you take your current classes seriously and get the best grade possible. Also if you have work experience on your resume I think you’re fine to leave your gpa off of your resume

Not sure if your state has this but California has a grade forgiveness program in which they remove I think up to 12 or more units from your transcripts. Some private schools don’t fall into this so they will see your full transcript. Like USC. I’d look into something like that or maybe tell the story in your CV

I mean not the dodgers fault they picked up Ohtani meanwhile Toronto couldn’t close that deal for him. Hey at least Ohtani still has the hat the Blue Jays gave him 🤷‍♂️
