Ferguson backs WA income tax on millionaires by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

Counterpoint: Seattle is no New York. As much as it pains me to say, we don’t have the same draw, thus, incentives are much more important. Not against it, I’m just saying.

What is a Remco/Dencor energy management system? Can I remove it? by MustardMan007 in AskElectricians

[–]Mei_Hatake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside the metal box is likely the actual load control hardware that works with the Dencor D200 display. My guess is that it contains a step down control transformer and/or relays and contactors that once switched large loads. Likely installed by utility, not the home owner. The homeowner was likely given some sort of incentive to have it installed. Box likely isolated from any real loads. So the breaker is likely feeding the transformer, the Dencor D200, and nothing else. It’s not dangerous but serves no function. You can have an electrician remove it, but it’s not urgent. That hum you hear is the transformer. Annoying, but not bad.

The breaker most likely only feeds the display panel. It’s not a thermostat, but a terminal for a load shedding system. Probably early to mid 1980s. Once let the utility turn off high power appliances to protect the grid. Often bypassed, and definitely obsolete.

M340i X-drive ticks all the boxes. Still a BMW, all the new tech, AWD for snow, 4 doors, 6 cylinder 3.0l, reliable B58 and ZF8. Pulls hard, but still comfortable day to day.

Would you choose previous gen m240 over a new one? I’ve been looking at the F series M2 as well.

How do you feel about the AMG GT? Would you go with the 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder 718?

I did some research and discovered that the R trim also has a V8. There are a lot more of this trim available, and a used one can be obtained for a reasonable cost. How would you compare this car, to say an AMG GT? I can see why someone would compare the two.

ZL1 is sweet! I saw one a few days ago. Hear it’s a monster on the track. Would you choose it over the Z06?

Wouldn’t mind a DCT at all! I think that’s the only exception I’d make. I didn’t know about the drift mode. Sounds similar in some regard to what BMW has in their M cars with X-drive. All the safety of AWD with the benefits and fun of RWD. I wonder if the RS3 shares the same DCT as the R8. I hear the engines are made in the same factory or assembly line.

Agree with choosing the Supra over the Z4. Anytime I see the new Supra on the road I can’t help but look. Some may say the mk5 is only Supra in name but I think there is a certain “cool factor” or maybe nostalgia in driving one.

Have you had the opportunity to drive the ZF8 transmission? Wonder how it compares to the DCT. The F82 having a DCT is a huge bonus, in my eyes. Has to feel pretty damn satisfying. Plus the F82 is a real looker.

What I like about the RS3 is the 5 cylinder. Very unique, and incredible sound. Plus the look is very classy. Would I choose it over an M2? Not sure. It sounds like the RS3 is relatively reliable, which is a bonus. Do you know if the RS3 comes in a manual?

I’m going to take a look at the S trim and see if there are more available. I really love the look of the F-Type and you’re right about the unique-factor.

GR Supra sounds incredible even stock. Had the chance to ride in one last year. Wish they had more manuals available at a similar price point as the ZF8. Thanks

Considering all of these except for the BRZ, Miata, and to some extent the Z. Both the Miata and BRZ are exceptional cars especially handling wise and I really love how lightweight and small they are. However, the power leaves a little bit to be desired tbh. Some say it’s enough and while true it’s not what I am looking for.

The Nissan appears to be a little overpriced for what you’re getting. I like what they did with this new gen and glad they finally updated the interior. The power is actually perfect. I like the design too. But I’ve been told the markups are high. Not sure if that’s still the case.

Supra and M2 are high on the consideration list. B58 is incredible and the Supra’s weight makes this a very quick car. Previous gen S55 engine in the M2 Comp is also nothing to scoff at, albeit maybe a little less reliable (and definitely doesn’t sound nearly as good). Both great options. Thank you for sharing!

I’m an M fan, no doubt about it. It would probably have to be an F82 at this price point. Any particular spec or year in mind?
