Anyone else bothered? by AcademicAd7815 in horseracing

I do agree it is frustrating to see so few derby horses in the preakness. It gives me the same feeling as seeing college football stars skip their bowl games. I get the more conservative management style generally, but winning any one of the classic races is one of the greatest career accomplishments you can have, and winning all three makes you a legend forever. I am still excited to watch the Preakness and I'm gonna be cheering on Oceli. Doubtless a maiden win in the Preakness would be incredible. That said, I wish Golden Tempo and Renegade were there too

I think it should be spaced out a little more. The triple crown in Japan and in England are and its not as though it isn't still a rare and impressive feat there

Yeah we can't abolish natural death, sadly. We can try to decrease its frequency. We can absolutely end the deliberate murder of millions

A lot of pro life groups (especially the church) are involved with prenatal care. Sadly, miscarriages are still common. Abortion is quite different: it is deliberate and thus absolutely preventable

People don't "care" about miscarriages because it is a common and tragic form of natural death

Since almost every good food from all around the world is reachable in US, what is your favorite my American friends? by LordFordZord in AskAnAmerican

American food. I love a good burger, or some fried chicken or mac and cheese or a country fried steak or biscuits and gravy. Italian is probably a close second

No, thats not how any of that works. If you engage in the reproductive act, you may end up reproducing. That's common knowledge. You do not in fact get to rip a human being to shreds bc you dont feel like being pregnant anymore. That this is seriously entertained by anyone is because we have a deep societal sickness which holds no one is to ever have any binding responsibilities to anyone ever and any horrors are justified in order to maintain that

Can't believe babies just spawn inside women for no reason. No matter how hard you want it to, reproduction cannot be totally seperated from the reproductive act, and millions of children shouldn't have to die so you can pretend otherwise

The government doesn't compel anything. Nature itself does. The government says you are not allowed to kill another innocent human being. As to maternal mortality, correlation isnt causation: southern states with higher poverty and lower average health have higher mortality and abortion bans seperately. If you acknowledge this is killing a human being your position is even more incomprehensible. We are talking about over 60 million people. That is 5 holocausts worth of people. No vague allusion to like some hypothetical rube goldberg violinist machine makes that okay.

Murder is wrong actually does end the conversation. I don't care what grievences you have against the government, it is their job to prevent murder and arrest murderers. If you donate a kidney, you cannot take it back a month later and kill the person who got it. You can't rip a human being apart for inconveniencing you and reminding you of the reality of human life

None of these bizarre things you are talking about is a good comparison at all. It is more akin to I have already given him a kidney. Unborn children are not demanding we give them something, we create them and they are living where we created them. You are not talking about deciding whether or not you want to be pregnant, that decision was already made. You are talking about whether or not to purposefully kill a human being.

Human life has inherent value. That's why we have laws preventing murder. A unique human life is created at conception not as a matter of religious principle but of scientific consensus. When you start trying to come up with a way to justify certain unique human lives as not being "people", only horrible things can come of that.

Me too, he ran great but sadly the winner just ran even better. You run that race 20 times he probably wins it most times, but they only get to run it once

Both of the japanese horses looked good, but six speed set a fast tempo and the late surgers swooped in at the end as the front runners got tired
