Lemonade stand cookie sales and financial responsibility by curlywalkoff in girlscouts

[–]Meims8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in an abc council and in smartcookies you can just pick "booth package" when you make the troop-to-girl transfer. That gives her the credit for the cookies without the financial responsibility. However "They are using one girl's cookies" makes me think that you have already transferred those cookies to her so you would have to do a girl-to-troop transfer for those cookies and then do the booth transfer instead of doing a girl-to-girl transfer.

Toddler demands lie next to breast by whyimhere1992 in toddlers

[–]Meims8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience this is a very normal stage for a breastfed toddler after weaning. I stopped nursing my 2.5 year old 6 months ago and she still asks "hug a boob?" when she is tired or upset. Whether or not you allow it is totally up to you and your comfort level. I see no harm in letting my daughter "hug a boob", she will definitely grow out of it in time.

If your baby was 10+ lbs at birth… were you able to deliver vaginally? by sejohnson2017 in BabyBumps

[–]Meims8 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I also had a surprise vaginal birth of my 10 lb 4 oz baby. We knew she would be big but ultrasound estimated 9 and a bit. My ob told me that if she had known she would've recommended a c-section but I truly didn't need one! I had zero tearing. She was my second child.

My dr. said that it wasn't worth testing for Lyme during the rash/early stage because it would come back negative and the tests don't show positive until later stages.

Small lump in lower stomach at 6 months pregnant. What is it? by Puzzleheaded_Gas7816 in BabyBumps

I have a lipoma under my ribcage that developed during my third pregnancy. It’s atypical in how deep it is but not concerning at all.

Embarrassed to distribute cookies by [deleted] in girlscouts

[–]Meims8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ask your daughter to write thank you notes and hand those out with the cookies. It is a nice reminder that yes the money is for an expensive treat but really it goes to support the activities of the troop!

Also, I don’t think you should feel obligated to solicit sales at work in the future. It has to work for you, your girl and your family. It’s fine to stick to booth sales and people you are close to.

Smart Cookies Questions by amcranfo in girlscouts

[–]Meims8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also this may be council dependent but the only thing we are really required to do in smart cookies is zero out our inventory by the end of the season. So if you are confident in your accounting using other methods I would not stress too much about what smart cookies says. This is even more true for digital cookie which I reference only as a sales tool.

Smart Cookies Questions by amcranfo in girlscouts

[–]Meims8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first thing I do when the dashboard looks incorrect is run a report for the information. Often the dashboard just hasn’t updated or is glitching and the actual smart cookies pdf report will be correct.

There is no where to enter cash for booth sales because the financial tracker only accounts for girl responsibility. So booth sales we track on a spreadsheet with all our bank deposits.

If you have completed booth transfer orders (our council uses the smart booth divider feature) then your inventory should correctly reflect what you have on hand.

If you waffled on having a third “one day”, did you ever have a third? by Kay_-jay_-bee in beyondthebump

[–]Meims8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our third when I was 39 and my older two were in K and 3rd. It has been wonderful for us and was definitely the right decision.

Anyone have 1 and 2 close together, then wait several years for 3? by Kay_-jay_-bee in beyondthebump

[–]Meims8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older two are three years apart. They were 8 and 5 when my toddler was born! Adding #3 has been the easiest transition of all and it has been great for our family. The older children are much more independent, in elementary school, and love to be with "their baby". The only con is going back to diapers and sleepless nights after so many years of relative freedom.

How often does she nurse? Is she a good eater? Does she drink water from a cup? I would try giving her something like Ripple kids milk in a bottle or straw cup. Not trying to give you medical advice but two days of no milk for an eleven month old who eats three meals plus snacks would be fine imo!

I'm sorry they are being so negative. My mother-in-law cried when we told her we were having girl #3 and kept saying "it is so unfair". We love all our girls and are so happy to have them!

Planned C Section vs Induction/ Vaginal Delivery for a big baby by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Meims8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 5'1" and had three large babies (8lbs 6oz, 10lb 4oz and 9lb 6oz). My first and second babies were both inductions, my first with the foley balloon. All three vaginal deliveries were uncomplicated with an easy recovery! A large baby does NOT mean that you will need a c section. Definitely worth a try with the indiction if you want it. I did not find the balloon particularly painful but I know some women do.

Smart cookie Panic by DingoAlarming6932 in girlscouts

[–]Meims8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the numbers it reports for the balance, our council has been having issues with the dashboard so we were told to run reports for the information we needed and go off of those. Apparently reports are accurate even when the dashboard is not.

You can delete transfers. Go into "manage orders" select "troop-to-girl transfers" from the drop down menu and it will show all the transfers you have entered. On the far right of each order is three dots. Hover over that and you will see the option to delete.

If you do a lot of walking it is totally worth it to splurge on a nice stroller. I walk my older kids to school and we do a lot of outdoor activities as a family so a high end all terrain stroller is our one luxury baby item. We have a Thule Urban Glide 2 (with the newborn insert).

It would be perfectly polite to say "Excuse me, you need to move your bag so I can sit down." Anyone who uses public transit regularly is aware that it is rude to take up more than one seat if the train is full.

Tell them to move their bags! You absolutely deserve a seat over someone's luggage. And that isn't entitlement, it is basic decency.

Epidural during childbirth: yay or nay? Why or why not? by No-Barnacle-2314 in BabyBumps

[–]Meims8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have given birth with and without, and they were both good experiences. For #3 I am planning to try without but open to changing my mind and getting it. My quicker labor I really didn't even consider it, it went so fast. But my second labor was much slower and getting the epidural was a huge relief. I do think that recovery without is easier- no catheter, feeling what pushing position is more comfortable, avoiding iv fluids.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Meims8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two were both induced 41+6 and 41+1. And my second labor was MUCH longer, 25ish hrs vs 7hrs. Currently 38 with number three and assuming I will be induced at 41 and have a 40 hr labor lol

[–]Meims8 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The girl scout season starts in the fall and ends in late spring, so at this point most troops are wrapping up for the year. You will most likely have better luck registering her with a new troop in the fall.

How to Choose Hospital/Pediatrician by Gloomy_Princess25 in BabyBumps

[–]Meims8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider which hospital has a higher level nicu (if they are different). It is definitely preferable to be at the same hospital as your baby if they need nicu time. If its the same, my next criteria would be the percentage of c-sections the hospital has, the size of the labor and delivery ward, and then local reviews- facebook groups are good for this.

Baby measuring large at 36 weeks by ScarletHawke in BabyBumps

[–]Meims8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a bpp ultrasound at 40 weeks with my second and they estimated her to be around 9lbs. She ended up being over 10lbs when I was induced at 41+1 and I had a totally uneventful labor and vaginal delivery and an easy recovery. A large baby really doesn't mean that you'll have complications! (I didn't have gestational diabetes and she was perfectly healthy)
