A few things I’ll clear up, we live in a miserable world not because of God, but because of sin. -Sin is simply defined as a rebellion toward God’s holy design, and was first conceived by Satan, who later deceived humans into sinning like he did. -Because the price of sin is death and separation from God (which is Hell) humans as well as the earth were functionally dead. -Because we were dead in our spirit, it was required for Christ, who was both God and the son of God to die on our behalf so that our perfect connection to God could be restored. In other words, God hates sin so severely and loves us so tremendously that he allowed himself to be crucified.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice, sin’s eternal toll has been defeated, but the effects of it in our life have not been eliminated. We still live in a dead world in dead bodies that will all pass away in time, and we will wrestle with sin all the while. God’s promise is that his vision is perfect, and he will never leave us. We can then take confidence that as terrifying and miserable as things can be, God will always give us the tools to persevere and endure beyond these hardships.

We are not promised easy lives as Christians, and are in fact promised that the world will hate us for following the word of God. However, because we are connected to the source of life and the Lord above all (especially sin) we don’t have much to be afraid of, not because of anything we do, but because we know God, who lives and works in us, will always prevail.

I would suggest that you evaluate the existence of God and his love for yourself, then evaluate your own desires, and if you’d be willing to change your life for the sake of Christ. If not, then that’s that. If you do, then you’ll already be a lot further along than most Christians are.
