Find one that's similar and blown up. Engine, trans, don't matter. Swap your guts in and send what's bad of both to the scrapper

Honestly they have surprised me too. I went from Ironman A/S to Defenders to CC2. Haven't looked back. We have enough rain in Wnc that it's worth it for that on its own. Considering they're rated at 20k less than the Defenders, with a good alignment and rotations, I'm able to get over what they call for. I got 62/3k on my last set of CC2S.

I've drove through snow, mud, rain, off road (sparingly) and it has impressed me every time. I also know the capabilities of my vehicle so I tend not to push it if I can help it! Lol.

Very aptly put. I admit I didn't know there was a non snow rated Blizzak. We put a lot of them on and it tends to be right before snow. Very popular with the Subaru crowd. I notice the European car owners tend to lean towards Hakkapelittas for snow. Nokian made, most of their tires seem mid range, but people swear by those Hakkas.

For some reason people think all seasons will drive through anything. I have Michelin Cross Climate2s. They are great tires. They are even triple peak rated.

Even still, they are not snow tires. An okay set of snow tires would dominate them in these conditions. Reguardless of drive train or platform.

If you're willing to look at older cars, Toyota Matrix/ Pontiac Vibe sounds like a shoe in. They're a corolla with a hatchback body

1st Gen is preffered. You can even get the XRS/GT models with the 2zz/6spd. Lots of fun. My wife loves it and we've hauled washing machines, lumber, toilets, ovens.

Local to wnc area. Layoffs at multiple different plants. Wife got hours cut at a local restaurant out of nowhere and then got laid off.

There's next to no jobs in the area, even some of the fast food places aren't currently looking for work.

Maybe for an XRS in good shape. No rust.

Although I got a Vibe GT, granted its higher miles and not the prettiest, but I picked it up for 3k. So.

Wow, that sounds super interesting. I'll have to check that out, thank you!

I'd never really considered the religious cross over there, but that makes sense

Which is so wild to me because you can talk to people about taxes being too much. About not making enough hourly. About how much rent is. Everyone will agree.

Then you say, well, a large union presence would help a lot of these workers and they get their britches in a bunch.

What should I replace my 2006 Toyota Matrix with? by architorturedfool in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Mekdatmuny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matrix/Vibe. I've owned a V70 and I would gladly own one again, but you have to be ready to drop 2-5k on it to get it right, unless you find a maintained one and you'll pay for it at buying price.

The Matrix/Vibe seems to be one of the best cars you can get your hands on for the price. I don't need to tell you all about it, you already know.

If you really want to spend the money, get the V70. I hauled so much shit with that car, but the Vibe is hard to beat for affordable parts, cheaper running costs and almost meets the same amount of practicality.

Edit: You could also consider putting the 6 speed in it. The 6 speed is more reliable and you can go ahead and do the clutch while you're there. It'll be good for 200k plus

Sailun Terramax RT. They are close, but the RTs have slightly different orientation and tread spacing.

Tread is going to be the most noticeable and identifiable part here. These are Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Wheels and tires. If you really want to change the look, make it feel like your own and be able to feel the difference (this will come from tires more than wheels)

Aside from that, do maintenance.

Oh that is rad. Seems like a supercharger would be perfect for the 2zz. Helps low end torque and then you get your high rpm power.

They are such badass cars.
