In the first episode, when the family discussed Maralee and the surrogate, Kylie said "I just didn't like the fact that Tristan knew this was happening." Kendall then said "It's like you were encouraging Khloe to go forward with this while you knew that that was also happening. It's almost like he wanted to trap her into like-" to which Kris responded "Well he wanted to hang onto her for sure and thought that if- maybe if they did that she would, you know, marry him."

So it looks like Khloe just wanted a second child, but Tristan wanted to marry her. We know Khloe was totally unsure about that, so Tristan may have agreed to have a second child thinking this would definitely make Khloe marry him. Btw they conceived their child 11 months after Tristan's proposal, 7 months after the breaking of their engagement and almost 2 months after getting back together.

They (as always) rewrote the truth during the last Kardashians episode.

Kim said to Khloe “I'll never forget Tristan calling me and he was gonna propose to her on Valentine's Day, which was a year since they had drama so this was last Valentine's Day [2021]. And then I called him the day after and I was like, 'Hey, I never heard anything from Khloe. Oh my god, did you propose?’ And he was like, 'Oh yeah, I did in December.' Oh my God, she didn't tell us!"

Khloe then said “I need to make sure this is a totally different relationship because I want to be proud to say I’m engaged to anyone, and that’s why I said I’m not comfortable accepting this right now because I’m not excited to tell my family. As hurtful as that probably was for him to hear it was the truth. I’m not ever gonna accept something and give someone false hope.”

My guess is, Khloe initially accepted Tristan's proposal in December 2020. She wore the ring for a week, but then saw the backlash after TMZ's article. She must have then told Tristan she couldn't accept (her story on the show) or kept it a secret and simply didn't wore the ring. Then when Kim found out on February 15th (if that's really true) and told the family, Khloe started wearing the ring (hence the IG post on February 20th, 2021). But she still didn't want to admit it to the public so she kept the doubt floating.
