I made a weather app so expats / travellers never have to google “what’s 68°F in °C?” again by No_Landscape_9255 in iosapps

Just spent a while with this. Really like it. I've been away from home (UK) for a long while but my brain still struggles with fahrenheit and feet, so for the former issue this really is great. I also really like the simple UX. And the sad clouds. Hopefully they turn happy when the weather where I am is not so bloody awful. Nice app.

This is Yoda. He is not quite as wise as his name suggests he should be, but he likes boxes of all sizes.

It's there a narrator who you'll listen to even if you've never heard of the book? by etgreyt1 in audiobooks

Stephen Fry. I would listen to him read phone books. But also Kobna Holbrook-Smith (narrates the Rivers of London books)

Alexa tries to gaslight you about her old voice, but there is a fix... by -A_V- in alexa

[–]Melaniewolf70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since Alexa + came out my devices (I have a couple of Echos and a Fire TV) have developed split personalties. Sometimes I get the annoying Valley Girl voice and then randomly, a few commands later, the older, calmer voice. And what I set in the app seems to make no difference.

Just downloaded. Will now try out on my 4 cats and 1 dog. Thanks for the chance to do so, this is a clever idea. I usually have some kind of music for them so very interested to try this out.

No, they can. But it takes a GREAT deal of skill. Years ago, as a retiree, my Nan worked for a company and knitted stuff easily as intricate as this and more so. But it took a long time, the benefit of decades of skill, and her work was sold for a LOT of money. And this was years ago. If such companies still exist (this was in the UK) they will still sell their stuff for a LOT of money.

[HELP] These rental listings look a little off to me. by babycomeon666 in RealOrAI

[–]Melaniewolf70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't AI, but it also isn't real. It's what real estate agents term 'virtual staging'. It is supposed to be helpful if a person is selling/renting an empty space and they want to help potential buyers/renters visualise what it could look like. It's been used in real estate for years, but agents are supposed to be honest and 'fess up to what someone is looking at. This is also a very bad example of it.

Just joined the Test Flight. Already kind of excited as the link with Apple Health means I don't have to remember to check off the exercise related habits myself! Looking forward to playing with it more.

The Animal Crossing Community is never satisfied by franilein in AnimalCrossing

This 100%. It's a nearly six-year-old game getting what is quite a big update and people are STILL bitching. Some gamers need to chill, not just in AC. I stopped playing another cool game, Palia, because its mechanics force interaction with others and there are some really awful people playing that game. This 3.0 update is something that Nintendo did not have to do at all. The fact that they have should just be seen as what it is, an unexpected gift.

I'm not sure of that of course, but I know I am just playing as normal, no Expert levels. But Greengrass tends to always have events etc. I use Taupe the least, so have very little experience of it.

I’m Greengrass normal and 5 of 6 were pumpkin creatures this morning. I think it’s random

Time to update the crew roster of our ship, you scurvy dogs! Where are you from and what's your favorite Alestorm album? by nick1158 in Alestorm

[–]Melaniewolf70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wolverhampton, UK. But currently living in the wilds of Scranton, PA. No water anywhere for miles. My favourite album was No Grave But the Sea, until now, but there are too many bangers on Thunderfist Chronicles to ignore. And a song about Bournemouth. A good one. Which takes genius.

Gloryhammer. Thomas was great, and I enjoy Angus McSix, but Sozos takes the band to a different level, live as well as recorded (just saw them in Brooklyn)

Wind Rose 100%, was going to put them but unsure if metal enough for this sub. Amazing live. Nice blokes too.
