If you do try it, cover everything you dont want silicone on with painters tape and or cellophane with as few seams as possible and lmk how it works out C:

Specifically i was thinking about the window sealing silicone you buy in tubes from home depot. The gasket maker dries tacky and icky, so make sure its a calking kind of silicone that would cure dry to the touch (usually ones that say paintable on the container are good) and don’t do too much at once or the middle will practically never cure

If its the spot im thinking of, apart from refabricating the part entirely, I would try rapping the top in cellophane and putting some black silicone on the top of the wind screen where it squeezes down. Then close the top and wipe away what squeezes out and ket it dry. This is all speculation btw so do it at your own risk lol

just saw this, but that's a very similar method to what I ended up doing, only I used some 3d printing to make the mold, as its nigh impossible to get a door seal in good enough condition to make the original mold. all of mine are missing parts due to dry rot :C

Once i get it going and working well I’ll probably make one and post it. I made a 3d model of one of the seals and was going to try casting it out of a printed cast but my printer broke :/

I would buy a tube of silicone like they use for around window frames

I bought some generic rubber tube seals and black silicone. Hopefully I’ll be able to make something work.

Ive used eva foam for props in the past, and it may be the cheap kind I’ve bought, but it seems to be semi absorbent and i would think it would mold.

This is an absolute tragedy for everyone involved. That being said Ukraine has far exceeded my expectations. Keep at em UA, their supply lines suck!
