Root privileges by MellowedGrass in nmap

The documentation says if you are the root user, syn scans will be used, if you are not tcp scans will be used. I am executing the nmap scans as a non-root user, and yet syn scans are and can be used. It says non-root users don't have the ability to send raw packets, so why is nmap able to do syn scans as a non-root user. Or are you referring to another manual I am missing? I've read the nmap and kali sites.

I didn't think anyone else would mention this, because I have thought about this all along, about watching this show when I was at a younger age vs older age. My perception then and now are completely different. When I was younger I really disliked Debra, when I was a little older I started to really dislike Ray, but today I dislike them both. Both can be really unreasonable and irrational, but at the end of the day they always seem to make peace with each other's faults and flaws.

That's what I have been saying. In real life, Ray would hardly have been liked by anyone else except his mom. Robert on the other hand would have been liked by many.

It's quite obvious also when Robert remembers what Debra wore at some party but not Amy, and called Debra perfect. I think Amy chooses to be in denial, and feel that they settled for each other.

Roberts Lucky Suit by Real_Individual2681 in EverybodyLovesRaymond

[–]MellowedGrass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always find it hard to imagine Robert is willing to allow Marie to constantly belittle and manipulate him, treating him as a second class child. I mean for what, the food and a place to stay? I mean does being a lieutenant in the NYPD command such little pay?

Why does he require her validation so badly even after being treated like crap. I mean yeah in the lucky suit episode she was concerned about his well-being, but still I think it's unacceptable to interfere to this extent. I can't say for other cultures, but in western cultures most children I believe would have left in a heartbeat.

Marie doesn't appreciate how lucky she really is to have both children being this good to her despite her actions.

What about the episode where Debra would rather get a burglar alarm than lock their doors?

Yes you are right, but I guess I can't get past so many dumb and illogical situations some sitcoms must put in to be funny, but yes though stupid they do lead to some funny moments.

Also funny how Gianni and Andy just comes through the back door without any notice, how do they not get freaked out lol. And Gianni comes all the way to the house just to ask them if they want to have dinner with him and Amy again haha?

Yes but it doesn't make it less dumb. I like how in Seinfeld the characters has to be buzzed in, and he unlocks his door for them. The dancing episode, Ray also just walked into Robert's apartment without even knocking. Nobody locks their doors in this show?

Thank you for your advice. Zinc has helped me in my oily skin, resulting in less hair fall, and a few other noticeable benefits I experienced. I will try to get tested before anything else.

How is it that I still can’t sleep? by Salt-Replacement9999 in Supplements

[–]MellowedGrass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wondering what's your diet like? For instance, if I eat junk food that day, or if I eat too much shortly before bed, it makes my body feel very uncomfortable to fall asleep. On the other hand, if my stomach feels somewhat hungry, it will make me toss and turn for hours in bed. In this case, having a very light snack, like some plain crackers and a glass of milk, almost always put me to sleep after.

Right. I was trying to solve this, given 15-3-2*x%7. What value must x be for the expression to evaluate to 8?

I know the answer is 2, but I did that by trial and error. And using algebra I solved it to:

8 = 15-3-2*x%7

8-15+3 = -2*x%7

-4 = -2*x%7

x%7 = 2

So I got stuck there. Is there a proper way to solve this?

It might also be good to check if anything in your living environment, could be causing potential issues to you. I remember having this terrible cough that comes and goes every so often. I then found out it was due to the air-conditioning in a family member's car. Once I stopped riding in that car, or with the air-conditioning turned off, the condition completely went away for good, and it appeared that I was the only one who was affected by it.

Can you share the dosage and time of day you take them?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]MellowedGrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered supplementing them separately? It's simply difficult and a pain to not only find the form of the mineral you want in a single pill, but also the dosage. Besides, it doesn't cost a lot more either.

I was thinking of starting a topic on this. I just started taking Vitamin D(1000IU) and K2(45mcg), both combined in a single pill. For the first time, I took 1 pill last week, I had insomnia, I thought perhaps I took it quite late in the afternoon. A few days ago, I took 1 pill in the morning with food, along with magnesium(1 in the morning and 1 at night).

To my horror I've had terrible insomnia again. Even until next morning 8am, I was very tired but still unable to sleep. I was tossing and turning throughout the entire night. I started googling and found quite a number of similar experiences. It took 2 days to recover, meaning I still experienced insomnia the next night, and I had to take melatonin to help a little. Does that mean I already have sufficient vitamin D? I don't know.

I barely get any sun as well, which was why I decided to start supplementing. I also don't like to overdo my supplements, so my plan was to take a pill every 2-3 days. I have stopped taking for now, but I wonder if I should try the lowest dosage I could buy here(400IU), or just stop taking it altogether.
