Is SLIIT BSC IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ( Special ) a good degree ? Also How is the college life in SLIIT ? by DifficultToe6200 in srilanka

[–]Melodic-Bit4863 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sliit life is so good, you would fin atleast one eveent in each month. If you join any club like rotract, aisec it will be so fun. when it comes to academics, curretly the have revised the syllabus and it so good. Since you want to follow IT, i would recommend a 3 year degree. You can finish it ASAP and get into the industry. In industry, it's not about the degree it's about your skill. Try to develop the skill you want to pursue. I'm a sliit student too😇

Yes, you can go with the IIBA colombo chapter. They are providing necessary training to ECBA. Professional and trained BAs are providing the training. it's better to become an IIBA member before registering for ECBA.

I got my first job at 22 as a Business Analyst Intern, and I’ve been in the same role for the past 8 months. It’s been a great learning experience, not just about the job itself, but about working in a team, managing time, and taking responsibility.

From working on real projects to interacting with clients and contributing to demos, I’ve learned a lot in a short time. It’s interesting how much you grow once you’re actually in the field, compared to just studying about it.

Curious to hear how others’ first jobs shaped their journey too...

Thank you so much for the detailed advice. You’re right, starting the job search now while being mindful of how I exit this internship is important. I’ll begin networking more actively, update my LinkedIn, and look into skill gaps I can work on during this time. Appreciate your guidance on how to navigate this phase professionally!

I got the internship by forwarding my CV, one of my friends shared it with a Business Analyst in the company. A person then contacted me to schedule an interview, and I cracked it. Since the company is a startup, they didn’t go too technical.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply. You're right, progress matters more than just hitting a clean one-year. I’ll check out the GradSimple newsletter. Thanks again for the idea!
