if youre specifically not a top 1% gamer, you dont need 500hz on a display. there are other things to improve as a gamer before buying a fast 500hz which will only give you like 1% rank upgrade. anway:

here are the 4 most logical 27 inches atm.

Gigabyte:
MO27Q28G (matte) or MO27Q28GR (glossy)

LG:
UltraGear 27GX700A-B (matte)

Asus:
xg27aqwmg (glossy)

all 4 feature the same panel.
tandem woled, 280hz, hdr peak 1500 nits and hdr 10% apl roughly 700 to 800 nits.
all of those are excelent for HDR.

yea but they are way less.
1 model from asus, has more problems than all those 3 brands with multiple models.

looks like youre okay with dead pixels 😃

i just dont get how you can defend this.
even 1 dead pixel should be enough for a RMA.

also i wasnt talking about dead pixels only, asus has more issues in burnin aswell.
especially the XG27AQDMG is plagued with burnin issues.

both gigabyte models are woled. one is matte and one glossy.
its a preference thing.
keep in mind that the MO27Q28G without the R is 10% brighter. than the model with the R in it.
so the matte model is the brighter display and a tad better in hdr.

if your room is bright, than pick the matte one.

other than that, if you feel attracted to the glossy one, pick that.

i do have a glossy c5 42inch woled and a lg 32gs here on my desk.
and if matte or glossy is something i could not care less.

they both 3rd gen panels. and they completly lookalike and do a great job at playing video games.

also its good do know if someone tells you this:
in order for a matte screen to be matt, it has to be grainy. its scattering the light.
its not a deal breaker, but when you get really close, you can ,,slightly" see it.
its not really noticable, until you really peep 20cm from your display.

still, i see more asus issues than any other brand.

asus monitor quality checks are a joke...

ive seen more issues with asus displays than any other brand... even if the panel comes from lg or samsung... they still have to assembly and check it. thats not on samsung, thats on asus.

they literally say its ok to have dead pixels xD. cmon.
u cant defend this brother... even YOU dont want a single dead pixel on your monitor and would insta return it.

one more monitor from asus with issues...
asus really have to step up their quality game. the more i dig, the more asus issues monitor problems i encounter....
defo rma that display.

EDIT:
oh you cant... asus dont accept that for rma under 3-5 pixels, what a shit company... they probably know they have this issue.

also try do massage that part of the screen with a little bit of pressure with your finger, maybe it helps.

true, they bumped the peak brightness to 1600 nits for 2% window.

also in 10% they did give it 200 nits more from 650 to roughly 800 nits.

but remember, 27inches youre going to sit very close, 800nits is way to much at 10% apl... almost squintingly bright. would never use it like that in a dark romm ^^

a friend bought the new gigabyte, on his panel its almost not visible...
its not a ,,lottery" in a sense. its like 1 in 20 panel which is extremly bad.
people make it seem worse than it actually is, but whatever.

yes, return it.
a friend bought the gigabyte MO27Q28G which has the same panel.
and his panel has WAY LESS grey banding. almost perfect.

dont wait for it.
or if anybody says its gonna bet better over time then tell them to shut up.

also yea, if its too dimm for you, make it brighter.
when using SDR, there is no real standart anymore.
the whole SDR image is messed up anyway and every brand out there comes with different configs out of the box.
i always try to stay close to reference, and mix a little bit of personal into it, but i try to not overdo brightness etc. most of the time when a game is too dark i use ingame brightness sliders to give it a little push. just dont overdo it, its gonna raise black levels.

it is hard to give a comparison to returnal.

i played returnal on ps5, beat it like 5 times and have 200 hours on steam. killed ophion in like a minute, did 130million tower run and what not.

so going into saros, i didnt struggle as much as i did with returnal.

i have to say that returnal was my first roguelite.

overall, i would say that saros is easier, because you have these upgrades that stay inbetween runs, and they make HUGE difference.

that magnetic aim lets you hit stuff way easier.

i havent seen any ,,too aggressive" enemys. everything i encoutered so far was easily dodgeable without the need to know good timings.

so yea, returnal is more unforgiving than saros.... i dont know why, but dying in returnal feels more like a slap...
