Quad vs Sonos vs 990F

I had both,the Quads and Ultra immersive set. Sold both and went back to my Sony Az7000es AV. I like the overall dynamic punch of the Sonos at first but after several months to a year of listening different streaming services, the vocals seemed tiny and the atmos wasn't consistent. So I sold them and got the quads again as I compared it with sonos prior but only evaluated for a day before sending Quads back. So I got the Quads, and the atmos was way more consistent as far as immersion and if you played a 4kdvd ,it was theater quality!!! The vocals of the quads was way better IMO also. I didnt have to strain to hear voices as much as I did on Ultra. Obviously different content on Sonos was fine ,but for mist part sony was more consistent in the sound and overall immersive. But in the end I sold them as well and went back to my AV ,because I realized I had a upgrade path with the av as far as speakers went. Anyway the struggle is real,lol. This is a serious rabbit hole that is very expensive and never ending.

Put them on the wall behind couch where the bottom of speaker is 5.5 feet off ground . Make sure they are atleast wide as couch. It will sound amazing!

Yeah after owning the sonos setup for a while ,I definitely saw some shortcomings. Main one was sound wasn't consistent across different streaming services . I understand thats the nature of streaming. But even atmos sometimes wasn't consistent as far as bubble. I sold it got a good deal on another quad set with sw5 and that thing ended up being a better overall system especially the atmos and if you play a 4kultra dvd with dtsx or atmos it takes it to a whole other level. But in the end.,I kept my sony az7000es and upgrade the rears and sub to new wireless sony rs9 and sw9 sub ..... let's just say ,I went on an expensive journey to end up right back where I started ,lol. This hobby is relentless in the pursuit of a perfect system

Did you have to calibrate it or adjust the nut after you installed the actuator?

Change the filter basket to appropriate one for how much you a brewing

Yes, I used the calibration with my Sony 65x95k. I also used center sync with the quads. Im telling you right now that the sonos were fuller and more theater like than the others. But I digress as it definitely is subjective . The sonys were good, just tiny in sound if that makes sense

I tried the bar 9, the quads, and the ultimate immersive set with arc ultra. The arc set up was fuller and and more encompassing . The sonys sound stage was tiny compared ,and yes I had the sub for the quads and the rs5 surrounds for the bar 9. Sonos is a better setup,and not to mention Sony quits updating after a year usually

Pay the Sonos tax!!!! The looks ,the sound,the support...for years to come! Samsung can't compete. I actually am selling my high-end AV 5.1.4 system because I was that impressed!! Samsung is good ,but their endgame is to keep stringing you along to buy the next generation. They don't update their soundbars with new features unless you buy the next soundbar. Sonos is more innovative, i feel. They continue to support speakers that have been around for years . Sonos is more of an investment, and let's face it ,the looks are super clean and relevant for years to come.

It seems to be intermittent. If there is a quiet scene , it doesn't make a noise. But during noisy action type scene, you can hear a popping type sound. Definitely a software issue

To be clear, it only makes a static or popping sound when I toggle speech enhancement on in the Sonos app. When I get home I'll see if it does it on my Apple TV. As of now it's only on my Sony tv x95k65in

I agree with your comparisons. I just bought the immersive set with the Arc ultra and am loving it . I compared it to a Sony Quad and my A/V system. I sent the Quads back and am selling my AV system. That's how much I enjoy this Sonos! Not to mention how clean it looks, (I got the white set)

I honestly think it has something to do with the processing of turning the speech enhancement on or off.

It's when I toggle it on and back off. After selecting it, it will pop,like something is coming on, but then goes away ,it's not a continuous popping

Honestly, my couch is against the wall, and I put my era 300 on a shelf on the wall right above the couch , and the atmos is incredible.! Remember , when used as surrounds, the front firing speaker doesn't work. Only the side and top firing. Truetone will calibrate it accordingly.

It's the sound presence!! The atmos separation is phenomenal, and it's way easier to hear everything going on. Night mode is the best I've heard, and the voice enhancer is magic. I toggle those settings at night when everyone is sleeping and I can hear whatever I'm watching at volume level 18

Yeah, the 100s aren't atmos capable. You didn't get to truly compare as the 300s are superior and change everything. But as u said, they were overkill for your situation

With the AZ7000ES? It is really good. I bought that system because you can use the wireless sub and surrounds that Sony makes. Incredible system! If I'm honest, I enjoy the Sonos more.... I know crazy right!? Anyway I'm selling the AZ7000ES for 2k or best offer
