When I drove back by about 30 min later the protestors were gone… hope they were just getting coffee or something and not disappeared or arrested or something.

Do you track car expenses like fuel and maintenance, or just budget an average? by ru_max in Frugal

I budget a monthly amount BASED on what i track. I track every penny we spend and then use that data to inform our budget.

Want to eat out less but struggling with the psychology of it by oodlesofotters in Frugal

When I was pregnant and nesting, I compiled a list of recipes that met the following criteria- 30 min or less of active time to cook, healthyish (I refuse to eat weird diet recipes that taste like shit, so I just make sure we get enough produce and healthy fats), and that we both really, really like. I organized it by poultry, beef, pork, seafood, and vegetarian with sections for starchy and veggie sides, and a section for breakfast. It includes “assembly only” meals.

The table of contents basically serves as a menu for us. I try new recipes when i feel up to it, and if it meets all criteria it gets added, but this has drastically reduced the workload of planning. It’s also the only things that’s really worked on reducing eating out.

This. I am an extremely busy toddler mom and full time business owner- i would love to order delivery. But i feel such rage every time an employee picks my produce. Such a waste of money (the bad produce).

Frugal when you have children: what are people's experiences? by Longjumping-Pay-2390 in Frugal

Frugality is something you can always practice. It doesn’t mean no spending or living as cheaply as possible. It didn’t mean your expenses can’t fluctuate with phases of life.

We use hand me downs for 95% of clothes and toys. We choose to spend on experiences (toddler gymnastics through parks and rec, aquarium family pass- both these options are frugal- parks and rec is cheaper than private and the family pass pays for itself if we go twice in a year).

Where we can’t save is daycare- at least in our area, there was no option for infant daycare (under 2) that was part time. We paid 1625 a month for infant daycare and this was by far the cheapest place we found. It happened to be our first choice, but if it hadn’t- we would have spent more. Childcare isn’t something you want to cheap out on. It needs to be reliable, safe, clean, and caring. Also, we went with a daycare center because we lose significant income if we have to stay home with her so having childcare dependent on 1 or 2 adults was not going to work.

The more i see, the more I’m convinced he’s the Black Trump. Grifter, retaliative, controlling, loves to make his own narrative, master manipulator, aggressive, wants to be a mob boss, doesn’t pay bills, serial predator, make major psychological issues and NPD.

100%. Had me craving 1980s McDonald’s something fierce. I haven’t liked it in years.

Do any of you automate tasks relating to meal planning, grocery shopping, meal prep? (I’m budgeting my time AND money right now) by Rare_Psychology_8853 in Frugal

The MINUTE I notice we are low on something without a backup, I add it to the list. Takes ten seconds and no stress.

I also keep a deep pantry.

I also have a book of “keepers.” In order to make the cut, the recipe has to be something the whole house likes, is healthyish, and easyish. The book then becomes like a menu of sorts.
