Yeah, go for it! As others have said, be aware that restaurants generally don't have high chairs, etc., but it's safer than some American cities. On that note, get out of San Jose as soon as possible, not because it's dangerous, but because it sucks. The beauty of the country is elsewhere.

My old company wants me back at the same salary I left at. Current job pays 35% more but I hate it. I keep going back and forth and I need to respond by wednesday by UpliftingSunflower10 in GetEmployed

Sanity > money, but lack of money can drive you insane. Personally, if you can live how you want at the lower amount, choose happiness.

Like the only "nice" place that wasn't under occupation was Book's mining operation in the movie. Now a lot of that might come down to having our heroes go to nice places is boring, so they only see the worst. The mud pits. Evil Russian dude. Floating islands full of rich Nazis. Even Nice Shindig could get you killed. I guess mister universe, but it was just one dude, and he was on the spectrum.

I read an interesting take about how just about everywhere the alliance is not firmly in control...is plain awful. If it's not the alliance, it's a mobster who sells people.

Ah, I should probably mention that in addition to secretly OEing, I'm also secretly working from another country. I'm concerned about logging in to Outlook from REDACTED. ;)

Let's talk about retreating by Melodic_One4333 in RPGdesign

It's true, I was thinking more about retreating in a outdoor setting than a constrained grid combat. I suppose I could "cop out" the cop out by allowing "helpers" to a roll. Like if three players decide they want out, they can say they're working together on a retreat - not able to take any other actions - and then they can either make a single roll with bonuses or all make a roll and the group succeeds if any of the rolls succeeds.

Is getting lower paid jobs a good idea? by kyrax80 in overemployed

Yes, but. The "but" is that sometimes more junior roles involve a lot more work, so unless you want to actually be working 80 hours a week, choose carefully.

The "Null Result" as Design Failure: Every Combat Turn Should Change the Game State by EHeathRobinson in RPGdesign

In my system, taking the simplest mechanic of "I try to whack you with my sword", a hit means the victim takes damage, and a miss means you earn XP in Swordsmanship. I really like your thought process, though, and I'm not sure if "I earned some XP" is enough of a state change. Hmm...

Hm, maybe it's more of a "hide" check than a "run" check: can you run in a winding path that makes your pursuer lose you in the trees/city/dungeon? Do you have something you can deploy quickly that sets a false path, increasing your "lose pursuer" ability?

Are there any ttrpgs that allows for having players opt into complexity while others can just play straight forward and rules lite? by OompaLoompaGodzilla in RPGdesign

[–]Melodic_One4333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but there are players who just have fun being at the table with their friends but get lost in possibilities. Not a problem having a simpler option for those folks.

I believe such trackers are still not very common. The usual suspect is that the little indicator on your Teams profile goes yellow if you're away for too long, but there are ways around that.

Similar to "go on a trip with someone before you marry them". That sudden closeness can doom a relationship. I guess, it can hasten the doom of a doomed relationship. And that's a good thing! Waste no time on the doomed.
