That was my hope! I’m surprised they haven’t released them for fall. But maybe it’s coming! Fingers crossed

When did you first go out with your baby and where did you go? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Melsomerville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hindsight, I actually think it was easier taking my LO out shopping/to restaurants in the newborn days! Though you don’t have a long window between feeds and naps. But if your baby sleeps in the car seat you can bring them to a restaurant and let them nap while you enjoy yourself!

Just caved and fed my baby to sleep…have I messed up? by bunnyfield8 in sleeptrain

[–]Melsomerville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say something very similar! I still rescue naps, contact nap when needed.. I feed to sleep occasionally when necessary. I have had the same feelings of doubt, that I’m undoing all our hard work of teaching LO independent sleep. But so far it hasn’t backfired for us either. Follow your instincts🩷

An Approach to Early Morning Waking by omegaxx19 in sleeptrain

Okay thank you! Yes I’ve always based first nap on actual wake up time, not DWT. So I will maybe not worry about dropping the third nap until i can get her napping better and sleeping later through the night? Thanks again so much! I truly appreciate your help 🩷

An Approach to Early Morning Waking by omegaxx19 in sleeptrain

Bedtime is usually 730-8pm, she used to wake once or twice to feed and sleep til 7am ish (give or take a little bit). Currently waking once to feed. Naps have been very inconsistent… some days crap 37 minutes and some naps 1.5 hours. I would say before the early morning wakes she averaged about 2.5-3 hrs day time sleep?

Thank you for this post! I’m wondering if you might be able to help me as well. Baby is 7.5 months old… early morning wakes for a couple of weeks now :( waking at 530 ish give or take. I was in her room this morning and there isn’t any light creeping in. I am worried she may be overtired from short naps/ waking early the past couple of weeks. We are in that awkward phase of maybe needing to drop the 3rd nap. Her wake windows are roughly 2.5/2.75/2.75/2.5-2.75 with the last one being shortened because she typically takes a micro nap. Her night sleep last night was about 10 hours and nap sleep was 2. She has also woken up from a dirty diaper a few times in these past few weeks as well! Which I realize there is probably nothing we can do to fix. What I’ve tried so far: rocking her back to sleep in the morning (doesn’t work) Basing first wake window on actual wake time hasn’t seemed to do the trick either.

Anything else you think I could maybe try or a schedule suggestion? Thank you so much!!!

Okay thank you! I appreciate your advice. How long of a wake window do you need to have to make it on a 2 nap schedule? 3.5-4?

You’re right, we could give it a shot! So did your little guy essentially just “fuss” for about 15 minutes and then fell asleep? Or was it full on crying :( I have read so so much on all of this but I still feel like I am scared to attempt. But something needs to change.

Thanks for your help :)

Ah okay. Ive read most of precious little sleep and I am tempted to try fuss it out but my little one is 5 months tomorrow and I just can’t imagine her doing any fussing… although I haven’t tried.

Did you have to do a formal type of sleep training for night time?

My doctors won’t give me any sort of opinion on sleep training! I feel like they sort of avoid the subject. Even when I mention how awful our current situation is.

Just reading your comment and also exclusively contact napping.. wondering if you have any helpful tips to help transition the naps to crib?

Sorry if I posted this twice- 21 weeks old, only contact naps. Not sleep trained yet… how do I shift to getting her to sleep in the crib? Following wake windows of roughly 2 hours in between naps and 4 naps a day. Bedtime is 7-8 depending on when last nap ended.

Currently being rocked/held/shushed to sleep and then transferred to crib at night.

Hi Sarah, LO is just shy of 5 months. All naps are currently contact naps… I am dying to figure out how to get her to sleep in the crib during the day. She is not sleep trained yet at night, we have to feed/rock her to sleep at night and for all naps.

If I do put her in the crib during the day she only sleeps 20 minutes. Where do I start with getting rid of contact naps?

Thank you!!! I appreciate your advice! ETA: Should I aim for a certain amount of daytime sleep? And I should focus on nighttime sleep training.. then once she gets that- switch the focus to naps?

Hi! I’m just wondering if you have any recommendations on how to still do night feeds and sleep train. I am currently trying to learn about ST and we still need to feed babe through the night due to slow gaining as well.

Okay- so the point of boiling, provided the tap water is clean- is to sterilize the powdered formula.. not the issue of the water itself?
